Just a quick reminder that Alonso was handing Schumacher and Ferrari their heads during a historic run for the modern team. That qualifies as "twisted logic" in the sense that people simply hated him because he was drumming the home team (and wasn't too gracious about it). Hamilton is nowhere near leading the WDC and is barely ahead of FA/Ferrari in the standings. Meanwhile, the guy in first is praised as a saint, VERY MUCH unlike the treatment Alonso received.
Why are you derailing this thread from the topic of conversation - i.e. the race in Hungary? Keep on topic please.
Because he's a troll! Further, he got "permission" from the mods to start yet another of his nauseous LH hate threads that is not locked! - His problem there is that it's being ignored. Cheers, Ian
Vettel just comes across as a likable guy. I loved schumacher unlike most, but never liked alonso. He always came across as a premadonna.
Wasn't expecting much from this track and while it was better than most years, the action after the first 15 laps or so sucked. The DRS zone was a joke and the only real passing was between the two McLarens towards the end which was irrelevant considering that Hamilton still had to pit once more and Button was good to go to the finish. Not very "edge of the seat stuff," I was just sitting there yawning kinda hoping they would take each other out. At least Alonso got a podium.
Ferrari's International Assistance is a reliable friend. I'm not complaining but it wouldn't have happened otherwise. His merit was to keep the thing on the track (mostly) and on 4th place somewhere along the motto "first you gotta finish before you finish first".
What do you mean? Hamilton finished half a minute behing Alonso so without drive-trough he would have been 4th anyway.
Ok, maybe I lost the plot a bit, but I thought before the drive through Hamilton was ahead of Alonso, no?
A drive through will cost about 12-15 seconds (depending on pit lane). Didn't he come in for tires again because his inters weren't working?
Yep - Terrible strategy call - If Ferrari had done the same the howls for *everyone* to be fired would resonate round the world! They gambled, and it didn't work out for 'em. Cheers, Ian
I´ll go further. I´m going to fuel the hatred against Hamilton: he probably would not have been penalized if he still had a chance of victory. Charlie Whiting waited till he saw Hamilton was screwed by his own bad strategy to apply a punishment with not real practical effect, just like Valencia last year. At the end of the day Hamilton finished 4th anyway but nobody will talk about Hamilton International Assistance the next time they leave him without penalty. OK, forget it, just kidding.
Let´s see: McLaren: Lost one wheel on Buttons car, lost one race for changing tyres when not needed in Hungary. Red Bull: Bad pit stop cost Vettel a win in Silverstone, couldn´t find Webber´s wheels in Monaco, bad decision for Webber in Hungary. Ferrari´s pit crew is not soooo bad if you compare it with the other top teams.
2 races in a row where Felipe is delayed. Plus the usual bad pit wall calls and yes compared to RedBull and Mclaren Ferrari pit stops are slower and error prone more so than the others. In fact the BBC showed a graphic sometime ago showing who had the quickest pit stops. Ferrari were not in the top 5. Slow start with a less than aggressive car design and bad management lead to another year with zero titles. Ferrari have work to do. Just this week Stefano calls for better Q3 performance. Uh Stef thats.... long overdue.
The whole thing was handled poorly. Cars screaming by the marshals through the debris on the "proper" side of the white line exiting the pits after the pit speed line. Then they towed the hulk backwards up pit lane on the pit exit line. In the wet. I remember seeing an exiting car twitch as it hit a puddle next to the tow truck.
The stupidity vs reality ratio was out of whack. I guess that was the reason for its popularity with some.
We have already seen that. Turkey 2010 for example. Or Korea 2010. He is still a very normal and likeable guy even under intense pressure. Unlike other WDCs.
I mean starting a season as a WDC in an inferior car Hami and Fred style. Not a few bad races in the THE CAR.
Facts: 1) Vettel won a race in the Toro Rosso. This was the only time this team or it's previous version as Minardi ever won. 2) Vettel won the first GP for Red Bull. These are just a couple of his/F1's first he did. In other words: he transformed RB into the WDC winning machine it is today Just as MS did with Benetton and Ferrari or Alonso with Renault.
