I only occasionally drive my 355 to work, and every time I do, I park out behind my office where no one else parks. It's also so that my patients don't look at the car and say, "Now I know what I'm paying for." Until the other day...I was low on gas in my Z and decided I was too lazy to stop and get gas on the way, so I took the Ferrari. For some odd reason and to try not to put my car in the hot sun here in Houston, I parked right in front of my office in the shade. Big mistake...

Right before lunch my front office girl comes back and looks at me, not sure what to say. The first words out of my mouth are, "Who hit my car?!" One of patients backed out a spot in a big F150 and said his sensors didn't go off. He went straight into my driver's side rear bumper. The picture shows the damage. The fiberglass is cracked and the bumper is pushed inward. There are a couple scrapes where the paint has also cracked. The 21 year old patient didn't know what to say. When he walked back in, being that everyone saw him do it, my front desk girl said, "Don't tell me you backed into his Lamborghini?" He said, "Worse, I backed into his Ferrari." (That part made me laugh)

In the end his insurance is paying for the repairs and I'll make sure it's done right. But no chance I'm heading to Coffee and Cars with that crack. Next time, I'll listen to my gut instinct when it tells me, "Don't take the Ferrari today."

You have my sincere condolences. At least he was man enough to admit he hit the car. Some insurers look for any excuse to drop an exotic.

Similar thing happened to me...there's a thread in this forum about it somewhere. I really, really feel for you...it'll be all better in no time though and you'll be laughing about it soon enough.

Thank goodness the person that did it fessed up and had insurance.

PS Here's my old thread. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=285973

Thanks, guys...that's how I look at it. Like I told him, in the end it is a car and it was an accident. All will be right with the world again soon.

    It's just a bumper, dude. ;)

Just make sure you document everything so that if you ever sell you can show proof of what happened.

I had my front bumper that had a small chunk taken out of the bottom on a parking stop thingy.

I also had a pretty good sized rock take a small section of paint off of my driver-side mirror.

At first I freaked out cuz I am pretty anal-retentive about my house and card always looking brand-new.

Then I realized that my 355 is twelve years old!!!

    And it's just a car!

The cosmetic stuff can ALWAYS be repaired.

I'd probably freak if I got into a moving accident with a car, though....:p

    Enjoy your day, my friend.

At least you didn't get molested by the TSA today!! :p It was awesome!!!

My thoughts exactly...of course I was shocked originally, but I can already laugh about it. With the size of the truck, I was lucky it didn't do more damage. Thanks! And glad you enjoyed your brief affair with the TSA.

Sucks, for sure. But the up side is, the bumper is just fiberglass. It can be repaired and repainted, no worries.

Ditto. Major bummer, but very repairable.

And I think you should go to Cars and Coffee - battle scars are fine. Wear em with pride (I would) and not to worry because everyone knows you'll get it fixed. I've beat mine up a couple times, but looks as good as new once I get it fixed ;)

Put a giant bandaid on it for C&C.

(on a much smaller $ scale, my wife's Ducati has the 'Ducati monster tank dent.' a giant bandaid gets a chuckle at track days).

Much better than mine experience when some a-class-****** keyed my car at lunch. I promise to hit him over the head with a 2x4 if I ever catch him, but never caught him.

Haha...you guys are awesome! It is true, I drive my car all the time and not just to meet and greets. I bought it in April this year and have put over 3,000 miles on it already. It is meant for driving and it drives better with each mile put on it!

Now I've got to go locate a giant band-aid. :)

I know it is upsetting at first, but the guy's intention was not to hit your car.

And you must respect his integrity for admitting what happened and wanting to make it right.

Exactly...the poor kid had such a terrified look on his face. But I told him not to worry, it was an accident and it will be fixed. I thanked him for admitting to it because the majority of people may have just disappeared without a word.

Ah, don't sweat it. It's just a parking lot ding and it is going to be as good as new. At least you weren't going 70 on the freeway and slammed into a lounge chair. ;)

    I remember that - ouch!

The kid took responsibility for his actions - that seems to be in pretty short supply these days, good on him. (My wife's car recently got hit in her church parking lot - the guy took off. Nice, eh?) And if there is such a thing as a "good" place to get dinged, the fiberglass bumper is it. Good luck with the repair!

I wasn't sure if I was supposed to offer him an adult beverage or ask him to join me for a weekend in Arizona after he put his hands all over me!

Glad it wasn't too bad ... and it appears to have missed the metal, which is good. Hope it gets fixed and back on the road soon!!

It's minor and can be repaired BUT why can't people be a bit more careful?? You've got a big ass truck. Back it carefully.

Elderly person drove into a parked car in front of my office this week. She hit the first car so hard it pushed it into two others. Think of the speed she had to have been going (in a parking lot) to have caused that much damage.

You're a good man, Christopher....in a few weeks after it's repaired and you have that bad boy humming at 7000+ RPM's you will forget this even happened ;)
