I read this forum quite regularly and it seems most owners have made their own wealth. I'm curious to as if anyone has won the lottery and purchased a Ferrari with their winnings? Anyone on this board fit that bill?

It doesn't take wealth to purchase a Ferrari: all it takes is *enough* money.

Be more specific: do you mean a Powerball or MegaMillions Jackpot winner, or a state-run lottery or second-tier winner? ;)

How much did you win? What did you choose to purchase with your new wealth? How has it changed your life? I'm curious to hear some of these stories.

    His story is typical.

BTW, he wasn't on this board, he was under a slab.

I believe I won a $5 scratch ticket long about 1990 so - the last time I played
    the lottery.

So yes, we're here. I'm sure there's others, not just me

I don't think you'll find many people who've won big $$$ or inherited their wealth owning up to it here. Unless they've otherwise distinguished themselves, they tend to be vilified when they do step out of the closet.

Fchat superstars are usually go-getters: entreprenuers and investment whizzes, followed closely by high-earning professionals and executives.

Then, there are plenty of average guys, actually the vast majority here, who decided at some point that they wanted a Ferrari and did what was needed to get one. They also get respect.

Just my observations over near eight years of membership

Interesting that now a days the word "lottery" instantly conjures up visions of millions of dollars.

Who remembers when every 17-18 year old whispered the word "lottery" with trepidation?

I buy 2 tix a week. Most I've ever won was $5! LOL. I think it's fun and I'd blow the $1 somewhere else anyway.

You did hear about the old couple who won big on the lottery? The wife asked what to do about the begging letters?
The husband replied "Keep sending them out"

I am a soon to be Lotto winner. I will not settle for anything less than 100m. I buy a ticket every time I think of it. On average about twice a month. I'm excited.

I once won a trip to Paris for 4 nights on a scratch card. After all the back and forth with the organisers about actually claiming my prize, the dates they offered me fell during my end of year exams for my undergraduate degree. I explained that I was a student and had my exams at that time and requested an alternative time-frame for the trip. They said I had to pick the time of my trip from within the time-frame offered.

    So I never went.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Statistically speaking, there is probably not even one big lottery winner on this forum. Last I read officially in the f-chat monthly newsletter, there are about 88,000 members on f-chat. The odds of winning even a $1 Million lottery are several million to 1. The odds of winning Powerball are 55 million to 1 at best. With only a few dozen big winners nationwide in a population of 300 million, the odds of one of them being a lottery winner and an f-chatter are pretty slim.

I used to love pulling up to convenience stores with a fellow f-chatter
in his Ferrari. He would always have to buy a ticket when it was over
100 million or so. One clerk saw him get out the car and said "Mister,
looks like you already won the lottery".
