She shouldn't have gotten in trouble for flying 30 miles out of O'Hare airport. The president needs to stop wasting money flying around the country causing problems for everyone else (especially traffic with his dumb parade of cars).

    Funny lady lol...

"I thought, 'Oh, well, they're just looking at how cute the Cub is," she said Friday in an interview with The Associated Press.

Rose, a Republican who said she did not vote for Obama, joked about mailing the president a note for his birthday.

"Oh dear, maybe I should send him a belated birthday card and say, 'You should have stayed home and Michelle baked you a birthday cake.'"

Rose said she does have a bone to pick with NORAD, or whoever released the information about her close encounter with the jets.

"The worst part is they put my age in there," she said. "I don't think that was nice."

Any dumber than Bush's entourage of cars and his flying around for a couple of hundred miles in the 747?

I don't think a plane made out of fabric and would could have done anything against the might of Obama's massive ego...

It will be very interesting to see what the Feds do on this. They do have to enforce standards. My bet is a short suspension. Rules is rules. If it had been an young male Afghani in an old slow Pawnee (crop duster) that did the exact same thing, well.....

You know you're getting older when you think she's hot for her age.

    Well, she is!

Sounds like a wise old woman in the way she is handling the press. Reminds me of the way my grandmother might treat a traffic stop.

"Hello young man. To what do I owe this pleasure? Stop sign? I've been driving this road for 30 years and never seen a stop sign at that corner. A written warning? Does this mean I am in trouble? Oh thanl you for the leniancy young man. You are doing a great job. You take care and be safe."

    *window rolls up

"hee hee, I've still got it. :) "

An A&E flying his Cessna 150 from OJC years ago (first week private aviation could fly after 9/11) was escorted down by two F-16's because he flew over Ft. Knox...

Nothing happened to him, the FAA just yelled at him. I know it's a different situation and the FT. Knox restricted space was VERY small but he still didn't pay attention to the NOTAMS.

He said the F-16's got in slow flight about 110ish knots on each side of him (really close) and FORCED him down.

Anyone who violates restricted airspace should not be flying IMO.

Cute story, but the rules are the rules. It is the responsibility of the pilot in command. If one flies in the middle of nowhere, then no sweat to head up to tool around a bit. But, near a major center, one must be vigilant. GA is a privilege, which many countries do not have. It behooves us to use that privilege responsibly so the restrictions do not tighten further.

bust a TFR or actually if you do anything, file a NASA form ASAP! Good article in recent flying magazine, busting a TFR is almost guaranteed 6 month suspension at least. NASA form you should avoid suspension.

My Mom just sent me this link...the 75 year old woman is a sharp good looking lady. I like how she gives her cub a kiss on the prop at the end of the video.

I don't remember how many times Clinton messed up me flying out of Boeing field. I still can't believe how many cops there were in the motorcade.

    This story is nauseating.
How did the F-16s determine she was not a threat?
Were they going to shoot her down over a populated area?
Can they even hit her, given maneuvering speed is a lot higher than stall speed and she has no thermal or radar signature to speak of?
Why didn't they scramble a helicopter instead? Cheaper, fast enough, and could communicate with her. No armament? lol
Can we just consider this payback for the New York City flyover?
    I can't wait until 2012.

Civil aviation is over-regulated but I guess she deserves a suspension.
