I know the majority of these forums are USA based, but im sure a lot of you have seen clips or even full races of the terrific BBC F1 coverage over the last few years.

23'000 have signed already, but we need many many more. So if you can take 1 min to sign, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Here's another site trying to take action against the Sky/BBC deal.

At the moment they are just trying to get a community together, and once a strategy for attacking this deal head on they will contact all members.

Everyone's help would be extremely appreciated.

I am having mixed emotions on this. As I am not currently subscribed to sky sports but I would have no problems doing so. I think sky offers a better f1 experience for the fans as they are to show even the practices. I have read a lot of comments about this and having no sense in watching half a season. I bet that Bernie earned a lot from this that is why he signed the inevitable. We just have to cope up with it.

BBC show all practice sessions with commentary. As well as great insight and driver/team interviews for an hour before AND after the race.

Exactly. Also GP2 and GP3, practises, qualifying and races, with commentary and everything. BBC and F1 is the best combination and that's the end of it. I actually wouldn't mind paying, I just want the best experience. That includes Coulthard, Brundle, David Croft, Anthony Davidson and the dude in the pitlane. AND GP2 to get a 'feeling' of what the track will be like. If they're on Sky, fine, even if it'll cost me £100 a year.

    Petitions never make much difference.

I would be happy to pay £100 a year also, sadly in the UK its going to cost an estimated £755 a year (£145 for mandatory BBC license fee, £610 for Sky Sports + HD).

Firstly, I've signed the petitions, so I am trying to help you guys out! ;)

Having said that, I think the above is a little unfair; The £145 is (supposedly ;)) payable even if you don't have a TV but rather just a 'puter apparently.

Then I guess you've gotta have a "basic" Sky subscription and the optional "Sports package" and a further fee for HD?

That's reasonably close to what I pay here, except we don't have a BBC :( or a license fee :)

My "basic" TV ("hundreds of channels of **** on the TV to choose from") ~$50/month
Add Sports (Speed, Fox soccer and a few others) ~$30
    Add a couple of DVR's ~$20

So, about $100 (~ £60 right now x 12 = £720 / year) for a lot more than F1..... Seems you guys are joining us fools here who've always paid for it!

    What does it cost elsewhere?

Do the Aussies ever pay for *anything*? :)

How about the EU? [Is it free to air in Germany for example?]

    Cheers,
    Ian

Sky say that Sky+ which allows you to record, pause and rewind live tv with the basic entertainment package and Sky Sports 1 is £31.75 per month, if you want HD thats another tenner. And theres no guarantee that Sky will put the F1 on Sky Sports 1 so if it isn't then you would have to pay for the other Sky Sports channels

I was in Italy last week and and stayed in a villa, the channel that the Hungarian GP was on was pay per view.

You all think a 'few' signatures will change anything to do with F1?

    Yeah right...........

You're probably right, but there's no harm in trying right?

IIRC, many years ago, a petition to keep cricket on the BBC led to a debate in the House and something of a compromise..... A very similar situation to what we have here.

    Cheers,
    Ian
