AKRON, Ohio -- Tiger Woods says his health is as good as it's been in years as he returns to golf. Woods has been gone from the PGA Tour for nearly three months. He makes his return to competition this week at the Bridgestone Invitational, a World Golf Championship that he has won a record seven times. He showed up Tuesday morning at dawn for nine holes of practice. Woods says his expectations haven't changed and that he still expects to win – even though he hasn't played since May 12, and he hasn't won any tournament since November of 2009 at the Australian Masters. Asked what excites him, he said it was a chance to "beat these guys." All i can say is if he does not start to win this time its all good and done..Reminds me a liitle about Mike Tyson when he lost for the first time and everyone including me was saying " he will dominate the next person, then the next person," and so on until he didnt win another match....Dont get me wrong they both where the greatest at their sport at their time but now we will just have to see if tiger can do it..?
I'm interested as well... Does he still have it? Wish I could watch it....alas, not in Kuwait... Mike
You've got to wonder if Uro prescribed him something to get him back to good health. The spirochetes don't leave on their own accord...
Oh please. Tiger isn't an NFL running back. Golfers don't start slowing down at 25 and become completely irrelevant at 30. He's got plenty of time to heal and do great things. The question is - can his talent and drive keep him on top?
His competitive nature has brought him a long way. No surprise he's saying it again. Yes, it'll be interesting to see how he does going forward....
No apology needed! Just that "Sports" is something of a wasteland, which as a sports fan I think is a shame.... It should be the same "dynamic" & "opinionated" forum as F1 Cheers, Ian
Adam and Stevie are making a statement, leading Tiger and ? by 6. I was kinda hoping they'd be paired together....
And that was really well received too! [Not a single response! ] I guess most folk here just don't do sport!..... Or at least fantasy football. Cheers, Ian
He may have the extra motivation, ie a chip on his shoulder, with the recent news of his ex-wife and that billionaire
Stevie rubbed it in during to post match interview, calling it his best win ever..... *edit: I thought it was interesting how he considered all the wins he's caddied on "His". A winning attitude is everything.
+1...blame the shoulder, leg, caddie, etc..who or what is next to blame>?? Thanks for the good times tiger but as far as being number one again..NO WAY ,,..maybe he can shoot for the senior open..
A friend of mine down in England is a terrific golfer. When we play rounds together, he offers me "caddy-type" advice as we go around the course and I typically shoot 5-6 shots less than normal over 18 holes. On my own, I have yet to master the art of judging distance accurately. Often I think the hole is further away than it actually is and I will often go too long. What it boils down to is that I don't play regularly enough to get my eye in. Perhaps on a pro level a great caddy is worth at least a shot a round (wild guess)? Something like that won't elevate a reasonable pro golfer over an awesome one, but perhaps it is enough to edge one great golfer over another great golfer. All the best, Andrew.
Tiger will win again. Will he be the Tiger of old? Doubtful, but I would not count him out of any tournaments. People **** up, and some folks are not like you and I: they are 'untouchable' by common folk, that's just the way they are. Snobby, snotty, stuck-up, stuck on themselves, above the rest of us, call it what you will, but you really don't know the demands placed on these guys, it's unreal. Ask the Chicago Bulls how many letters/packages they received when Michael Jordan played for them, in his heyday, from people wanting him to send something or show up for charity functions, it was something like 1,000 a day. There are a handful of people like that, I won't even pretend to know who they all are, you guys might know some of them though. Tiger and Michael are two of them.
+1 Write him off at your own risk! Having said that, I *really* don't like the look of his "new" swing.... Back in the day, it was a thing of beauty, now it almost seems to have the dreaded Charles Barkley "hitch" in it! Cheers, Ian
I don't think anyone is writing him off, he will win several more majors and my odds on Jack's record is still 50-50, use to be 100-0. He is still a conceded cheating ass hole that has wronged so many people that have stuck by him (caddies, coaches, family).
