The neurotic 'mileage' thing is retarded. These are mechanical objects, not toys. I have always driven my Ferrari's, and guess what....... they worked all the time and are reliable. And actually driving them gives you real, irreplaceable memories.
In Switzerland (import) SCUD prices are diving towards CS prices, so soon the CS market will drop another 30-40K as there is no comparison
Its more than just, "this car outperforms, that car... therefore it's worth more". If that were the case, any good 360 NGT w/some good race history would be worth more than a 250 SWB or 250 GTO...... and they aren't. The CS is a very special car. They hit a home run with the dynamics and character of the car. The 430 version was step forward in performance, but seems a bit synthetic to me, and I believe that they have produced a great many more Scuderias than CS', which in the long run will make it a rare sight. Supply and demand.
Hmmm I agree the CS is special having owned one and the SCUD is produced in MUCH more numbers, however ultimately it comes down to driving and all the extra torque of a SCUD and the 60 MS vs 150 MS gearbox means there is simply no comparison. I guess it depends whether you can park a CS in your living room as it is a more beautiful design but the moment one turns the key it is all over....... Having said that when CS prices fall another 40% I might buy one just as an investment but they are going there, just like 599 prices have another 40% downside in the near future too.
I agree. Supply and demand. I don't care if the Scud is faster. I'll buy one of those too so I can lock my cs in the garage and not worry about some jackass running into it.
If that is all people wanted..just a car that is a little bit faster than the other..no one would ever want a 288GTO or Lusso or Stradale.
The SCUD vs C/S debate could go on forever. The C/S is slower. The SCUD is faster. There are 4X the amount of SCUD's vs the C/S. They are basically the same price so it gets down to what pleases your eye and passion. Having seat time on the track and street in both I provide this feedback. I can get around the track at the same pace in both however the C/S makes you drive it the SCUD is far more forgiving(makes you feel like a better driver than you actually are). The C/S is actually far more raw than the SCUD---more race car like. I love both---however the C/S has the lines for me.. Both are great, and we are very lucky to have such an opportunity to choose either.
All these threads about "CS parts" lately has me wondering........ Replacement parts for the CS are expensive as hell. I feel like if I sold all the parts off my CS right now I'd get about $250k for them. Is my CS worth more in pieces? If so, are we at a point where the rarity of this car is going to have an impact on it's value more than it already is?
Interesting you think they are basically the same price with the low end scuds selling in the 190's and the high end CS's asking 160 but not selling for it. It is all about lines and love for any car. 360's cost a lot more to maintain which for some owners are tough. You can debate forever so it's really all a preference for sure. I've fallen in love with driving my CS again but still think my Scud is amazing and I like the looks of my Scud better.
Where are you seeing SCUDs going for 175k? I am not implying that you are fabricating this information, just curious because it seems like a great deal and I would like to lay eyes on a 175k SCUD to see what condition it is in.
I have been watching 430's for a few months to see what is going to happen to the prices. I have felt like (or hoped) the price would drop more by colder weather. Now it seems to me that the Scuds are the ones dropping the most. Do you guys see that too? I am not adept enough at this is to really know. Thanks for any input. Nathan
I have had and enjoyed a CS for almost a year. I have a very clean superbly maintained one that I got lucky to purchase. I have always had Porsches ( 43 years driving them)and still have a Carrerra. I had a Speedster that I turned into this so I know about proper fit. The other day I had a chance to look at a 458 closley....... My take away.... I'm thrilled that I have the CS... I saw so many imperfections in so many areas fit and finish wise that I have no intrest in the latest technology . I have a Nero CS and if you look closely all the blems show in this color. Looking very closely the CS smokes the 458 . Not on the track but overall. Interesting time. Haven't had the chance to see a Scud as up close and personal but this intrests me as maybe it is the next level! lucky cs owner maxer
Can you elaborate on what you saw? I am currently planning on acquiring a 458 Spider (for 2022 delivery).
Really? 11 years from now? I seriously doubt that they will be making them in 2022. 430 ran 2005-2010, 360 ran (1999 Modena) 2001-2004. Call it what, 5 years build duration. To hit your mark they would have to start production in 2017 (6 years from now). Sorry, I call BS on this one unless you are saying you want to buy used in 2022.
The way I see it is pretty simple I think. Sure the scud and 458 are amazingly advanced, fast, powerful, balanced etc. I would not kick either out of bed for sure. However the CS in my opinion just has more soul and us CS nuts get it. IMO it is one of a handful of truely special cars ever built. I am back in the market for another one next spring! Can't wait and will drive the wheels off her!
No reason to jump on someone for a typo. However I am interested in these "imperfections" he saw on the 458.
