That's like saying a dog is a better pet than a piranha, i.e. stating the obvious to all but a specific, narrow subset of the pet owning population.

That said, I agree with you.

I've been kind of hesitant to drop a line in this forum but Cariad, you have company. My order is in and I will be getting the launch car. I've also got the first 458 Spyder. I agree and have done a LOT of research on the subject and I don't expect to lose more than 20k on the car. I might even give it back after 4 months and lose nothing. The 458's I've had lost nothing so who knows.
I'll also agree that the car looks MUCH better in person. Reminds me of when I saw the Cayenne in Pictures and said "Porsche is going to go out of business with that thing" then I saw it in person and thought "OK that's actually pretty nice". Wicked is the best way to describe the front. "Interesting" or "Eh, well I applaud them trying something different" describes the back. I also thought "Pretty sculpted" when I saw the back. Comfortable as hell though. Screen is a bit lame but I loved the mini screen for the passengers. I'm heading to Maranello to custom pick stuff in September. Post your delivery date when you get a chance. I'm told end of November to first week of December.

Welcome Trincap to a lonely outpost. Already we have Chalstrad,Eric, myself and now you.
If your at Maranello in September, it might be when we are there following Monza.
I put my final order in after visiting the Atelier in NY. Please be aware that Grigio FF is lighter than Grigio Ferro Met. I went with the Grigio Ferro Met and will post the full spec Friday. I expect the car to be produced October with early December delivery.

There was a show on UK television (ITV4) last about the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Had a few seconds of the FF going up the hill. The colour was really nice - looked something close to Blue TDF but can't be sure. Much though I have been (very) critical of the car's looks and it's size, seeing it in motion, and hearing the noise, I am starting to mellow a little towards it.

Ah cool glad to see someone else is going to Maranello for that event. Sept 7th right? Any idea on what they are unveiling? Where are they putting us up anyways? I will probably stay at the executive in Fiorano if it isn't something I like.

September 7th I will be at Monza, Practice and Qualy, Grand Prix Sept 11th, following which I will be at Maranello 12th and 13th. Staying at the Planet as usual.
If your invited to Maranello for the 7th it will be for the 458 Spider launch. It was shown to dealers this week.

Ahhh, so that's the big event. Well that oughta be interesting. Where is the Planet? I don't want to stay all the way in Milan and have to drive to Maranello. Fiorano is next door right?

The Planet hotel is opposite the main factory entrance. It is a favorite of a certain driver from Spain.

That looks amazing. Havent seen many cars in that colour yet, but the FF suits it. Hope to see other angles on that one and different lighting. I hear that colour can alter its appearance dramatically as the light changes...

A 458 Abu Dhabi I saw had a greenish tint to it. It's on USA ebay currently. How about this, a 50/60's color ?

Does anybody know how the "Pit Speed" works?

I went to analyse an FF over the weekend, but did not manage to figure this one out.

It's Ferrari's cruise control button. Cool ! What's not cool is that it is a $950 option on a $300k base MSRP car

Agreed, I think this would be difficult though. It works well on the older cars because of the rounded corners at the top of the front grill. I'm not sure how it could work around the pointed grills of the FF.

Interesting thought. I'm sure some of the photoshop pros among us can make it happen. Hint, hint. :)
