Outstanding. Did the Scud come with the harness mounts on the backplate or was that something you had to fabricate?

When you sit in a car and buckle into a harness, you know your are in for a fun time! I think they're great... exceptional for the scud and cs.

They fabricated the mount covers. The belts came with a plastic piece that didn't look all that great so they made the ones pictured from highly polished stainless steel. It's great to use the wheel just for steering and not trying to hold myself in the seat.

That is not the factory four point seat belt mounting point. It is designed for the child seat tether and not for a seat belt mount. If you are in a significant impact that mounting point will not hold. The factory mounting points are located above these points directly bellow the window in the main firewall support structure and are not generally provided on U.S. cars.

I'm inclined to agree with above. I'm not sure you've achieved a safe install there. As far as I know you should have nuts / bolts that pass through the bulkhead and should also have somewhat similar brackets on the engine side in order to spread the load.

I note you left in the regular seat-belts which is a good idea as doing up the full harness can be a bit of a drag when nipping down to the shops.

There are brackets on both sides of the bulkhead with 1/2 inch bolts. The glossy plate you see in the picture is a cover piece.

Are you sure of that? I've seen and heard differently...I think those "mounts" you are referring to are for a child seat tether?

    Who can confirm?

Yes, I'm sure, I was there when they did it. They had the cover pieces off both in the engine bay and in the passenger compartment and went over things with me to make sure it was OK to drill the holes.

That is not a safe install and is not anywhere near the factory mounts. Drilling holes through that section of the firewall is also too low and will stress the seat back in a bad accident. This will likel break the seat and/or pull out of the firewall when the belts are really needed in a bad front end accident.

+1 Discussed at length with dealer on fitting harness to 16M, from what he said and diagrams I have seen mounting point looks very low. 16M fitment seems impossible!

Agreed the mounting point is lower than the factory points on the European cars. These belts are for keeping me in the seat on track days, where I drive well within my limits. If I were racing I would have a full cage and 6 point belts as 4 points are not really appropriate for racing. Because U.S.cars don't have the mounting points we used the location of the child car seat mount (very functional in a Scud) because it will be easier to remove without major cosmetic damage if I decide to sell the car. Under the cover pieces there is a 6 X 6 steel bracket on each side of the firewall to distribute the tension of the anchor bolts. While anything can happen on a track I always wear the standard belt and drive like that is my only safety belt.

There is actually a main bar quite low down that is used by the 360/430 Challenge cars. (the fixed carbon challenge cars seats are much lower mounted than road cars seats). *IF* the location and drilling is done into that bar you'll be absolutely fine as it is structural!

Have you got pictures of the install build, prior to fitting the firewall trim? That will prove if its safe or not...

The lower point is absolutely fine as long as a backing spreader plate (ideally FIA approved) and FIA approved high tensile steel bolts are used too.

No, I'm not sure. I thought those were the factory mounts but maybe they are for child restraint.

    Hello,

I'm Brand new to the forum. To be honest I was searching for this same topic and was lucky enough to find something.

I own a high end custom fabrication shop and had a local shop buy the name of Fusion Motorsports request on putting some four point harness's in one of there customers 430's. I normally don't work on Ferrari's but it's fabrication. So this is what I came up with.

I first thought the frame was mild steel but ended up being aluminum. So instead of welding them in place. I ended up bolting them down like factory. I think there pretty stout and aren't going any place. I made it so the eye lets for the eye rings can be threaded in and be removed for cosmetic resones as well.

    Here's a few shots

Very neat setup! So you still had to drill four holes to hold each of the points down?

    Those red belts look amazing.
Does anybody know of any options to change my stock black seat belts to Yellow in my spider?

I believe many would love to know this. I too would prefer a red belt in mine.

    Thanks !

Yes, It's the only way to attach anything. If the chassis was steel I would have welded them in.

    Thanks !

Are we going to hijack two threads in one day? :) If someone doesn't give us an answer we can start a new thread. BTW, I have searched this forum as well as google and can't find them.
