An early reminder that Caffeine & Octane will be back this Sunday at a new location. It is the Roswell Exchange shopping center at the corner of Alpharetta Hwy (GA-9) and Sun Valley Drive, just north of Andretti Karting and just down the street from Ferrari of Atlanta. Nino's Italian Kitchen, right in front of the center, will apparently be providing the coffee. In view of the hot weather and the inevitable crowd, I advocate getting there real early - before 7:30 - and leaving as soon as the heat begins to be noticeable - perhaps 9:30? I'll be there with my Canon, ready to shoot away.
Nino's Italian Kitchen appears to be closed. There will be coffee available, BUT what about restrooms?! Apparently the search begins once again for yet another location.......
I'm going to try and be there. While it's not perfect we have to support the effort everyone is putting in. It is a good new location though due to the size of the parking lot.
Another full house (eventually)! Aside from the lack of restrooms, I like this site better than either of the previous sites for C&O. The Pink Ladies did a fine job offering food and caffeine. The variety of vehicles was, well, typical, which means highly varied. Maybe about half a dozen Ferraris, but scattered all over the lot. I arrived around 7 and found quite a bit of activity. I parked in one corner of the main lot, very close to the now-defunct Nino's location. Here are a couple of comparison photos taken from about the same spot, one taken around 7:20 and the other around 9:40. (The vacant spaces in the latter shot had been filled not long before.) More photos to come later. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Don't think so - the Saleens had a unique rear end treatment, and I think they went under before adapting that to the latest iteration of the Mustang. There was a Saleen elsewhere in the lot, but I did not take its photo.
That was a 1993 Mustang Cobra. Had different wing, wheels, and a few extra ponies under the hood. I think 245hp instead of 225. Oh and it had the Mustang LX tail lights instead of the hideous GT tail lights
Okay, let's see the Italians, with a few neighbors peeking in. The light was pretty low early on, as you can probably tell, but at least there were no problems with shadows! Note that Marietta Sportscars (which I pass on my way home from work several times each week) is now the local dealer for Vespa scooters. More pics tomorrow. Lots of British cars - so many, in fact, that this is one of two posts! Lots of Aston Martins, and lots of Minis, old and new. (But is the new Mini really British?) Well, they were taken aback by Nino's sudden closure. I think the only issues with the new location now are restrooms and possibly food & drink, but both those problems can be overcome. So it may be at the same location or not. (I'll be away next month, which happens to be Labor Day weekend.)
Speaking of a totally different subject..........Kurts........ now that it is over on PeachtreePkwy has anyone been there? (If weather was decent I'd not mind a nice something to do Saturday evening)
Yes, I've been to the new location. Maybe not as distinctive as the old place, but still very "homey" and still good food. Kurt and I had a nice little chat.
Here are the rest of the Brits. That Rolls Royce in the last group was so big that it looked like a car that had been hit with an enlarging ray! That's Joe Patton's car! (he's the famous Phantom of the Fox). He's driven the car to Monterey and also had it shipped to England where he and his nephew drove around three countries for several months. People like Joe make the monthly Cruise-in special.
