http://planetf1.com/driver/18227/7089346/Schumacher-to-evaluate-his-future Given the mixed results this is long over due.
He should go back to Ferrari for 1 season, and call it quits... that way he can cash in again! And or let Ferrari run a 3rd car for him.
Schumacher: "If anything, I am the problem: it is a fact that I am a bit more relaxed than before and I do not know if my mind-set is right for this team." Nuff said.
Michael, noooooooooooooooooo! Image Unavailable, Please Login Doesn't he realise there's beer at stake?! All the best, Andrew.
I disagree. MS has found his speed in several of this year's training, qualifying and racing sessions. What has however prevented him from achieving tangible results was his lack of consistency (and in several cases the car breaking down). There were several sessions where he set fastest sector times over several laps, but never managed to have the fastest times of all 3 sectors in the same lap. And then there were the mishaps and run-ins with other drivers during the races. Those are the signs of an aging driver. He isn't lacking practice (the car is) but consistency.
I think it's motivation - when you are really good at something and you stop suddenly you still think you can be just as good at a later date... I think he is just finding out what a lot of folks do - the hard way... but I dont feel bad for the guy, getting paid to race F-1 ??? he's still living the dream!
His roll was clear at Ferrari. This is a man who lead a team to many victories. His roll is much different now. He would be better suited to stay at Merc in a management roll and aid young drivers. Still plenty of knowledge to contribute. I wouldn't read to far into this.
I'm still confused what the connection with 3 means. Yes, Willy was his team manager for 3 teams, but he drove/drives for 4. And if you count the retirement and then the short lived comeback with Ferrari then MB is already his 5th team. Anyhow.
Before you guys all get excited about these claimed quotes (which obviously to me did not come from Schumi's mouth), i would like to point out that Corriere dello Sport has pulled the story. http://www.corrieredellosport.it/formula_1/2011/08/05-187413/Schumacher%3A+%C2%ABNon+ho+pi%C3%B9+la+mentalit%C3%A0+da+F1%C2%BB
The three instances of the use of the word "roll" are incorrect. It should have been "role" all three times... I too am of the generation when grammar and spelling were still considered important...
Do you think they got a desist order from Mercedes, Schumacher, or others? Or could they just have thought better of it themselves and taken it down? All the best, Andrew.
MS' manager denied that he said any of this. Then they took it down but now the story is carried by other papers. As the Italians say: Si non e vero, e bon trovato.
