Does anyone have any info on replacing the carpet in a 360 spider? Is carpet something that you should buy the OEM part for... or is all auto carpet something that is custom cut/installed by the typical local upholstery co?

I am looking at red/tan 360 spiders and most have tan carpet but I prefer black carpet and I would like to see how much it is to change out.

While I'm at it... how about Daytona seats. Best place to buy tan with black inserts?

    Thanks.

I would check with your local car upholstery shop. I was looking at a 430 with red carpet and wanted to change to black. Got an estimate around 2000-2500 IIRC, but this came from the salesman.

Changing to Daytona seats will be pretty costly and much more difficult. There aren't many used ones around.

Honestly, I have red carpets and wasn't sure when I got the car. They have really grown on me. In retrospect I am very glad that they aren't black or tan. My suggestion would be don't let carpets hold you back if the car is a match otherwise.

i've been considering dying my carpet from tan to black. many threads I read said it should be a doable task if willing to commit some time (2 days for drying and redying). just another option/thought.

I was looking into dyeing my interior carpets but one of the household carpet dyeing companies told me that I couldnt do it with car carpets because they were polypropylene

i've seen countless threads with pictures of dyeing the carpets so im sure it can be done. it seems that the issue is how thorough you are and how much time you're willing to put in. if done correctly, i hear it comes out very nice. there are also some threads on fchat on this (i think in the 308 section). bimmerforums and pistonheads also have some good threads.

Does anyone know what material the carpets are made from?

If I were to go through the trouble of changing the color of the carpet, I would probably replace the carpet so that it was also new and pristine. Dyeing an old carpet doesn't make that much sense to me unless it was already in perfect condition.
