Of which I'm sure almost 100 are no longer in the US or have been wrecked is my guess.

I think the typical storied cars are the same 30 or so cars that keep changing hands.

The latest Forza magazine says production of CSs was over 3200 and prices are between $115-125! What a joke! You'd think they would do more research before printing that crap.

Interesting Forza can't figure out the correct quantity but I bet you would fall over at the number of CS's that traded hands in the last two years in that price range. Over 70% of cars sold were well under $140k SELL price not ask.

stokpro: I jumped on this car the last time it was listed for sale (middle of may, IIRC) and found that the car has traveled all that mileage without a clear bra so there are a lot of little nicks and chips in the paint. that plus the fact that it had a brake job within the first 10k miles leads me to think that the car was likely driven pretty hard as well. all in all, not a bad car at all but i figured i could spend a little extra to get a car in a nicer condition.

the good news is I just put a deposit down on a car today. pending PPI results tomorrow, I should be picking the car up at Concorso next week. please keep your fingers crossed for me!

I thought I had a done deal with the seller of the beverly hills car, but he backed out the night before I was to fly out and pick up the car. It was a real disappointment after the time and money I had put into the deal, but that's the way it goes in the CS market sometimes.

Look at the Copart photos here:
    http://www.challenge-stradale.com/134675.html

They've installed a new windscreen, rearlights, challenge grill looks fixed etc. Also the damage in the Copart photos look far worse than it appears now.

This car was for sale a few months ago...anyone know where it went? Someone bought it and is selling it again after only 2 months? If that's the case, I have to say I get a little suspicious when I see cars flipped that quickly...makes we wonder if they found something they didn't like? Not saying that the case here, but that is the "optics" I get when I see that...fwiw, the guys at FoSeattle have been great when I've dealt with them...

So how many Stradale fans / nuts would buy a 25,000+ mile car? Car sold for less than $120 with 20,000 miles. It does fit the theory of a "driven" car, so their should be less mechanical problems, at least some members have stated. I have seen a few cars sold for under $120,000 with less than 10k miles. Figure most owners drive 2-3k / year if the car is an evening and weekender car, would take 5 years to hit that number. Would be a fun car to own though for a couple of years and take up to 30k, wouldn't lose that much.

Which cars were those "few" (vin's and when sold)?

Fwiw, and I'm sure I haven't seen all of the transactions, I'm only aware of three sales below $115,000 (all of which had over 20k miles)...other than some wrecked ones...

Fwiw, I think the market is actually pretty different that this one data point, so don't dispair!

Over the past few months (as has been pointed out on f-chat threads) the asking prices in the US have gone up a fair bit.

58% (7 out of 12) of the CSs listed on cars.com right now have asking at $150k or more...average asking is $143k with a range from $105-$175k...yes, these are asking prices and yes some have been on the market for awhile...but, that said, I haven't heard of any sales (other than the ones at FofSeattle or wrecked ones) for under $120k this spring (not saying there haven't been, only that I haven't heard of them). OTOH, I am aware of 4 actual sales at an average of $135k back in February (range of $122k to $145k). Average asking price is up, I would venture, about $13k (10%) since the winter...there are also many fewer CSs for sale currently than at any time over the 15 months (at least) - Stockpro has the numbers...

Thanks for info. Most people who wish to own a CS tend to talk down the going prices. But once they get one, change their tune.

Car was not flipped. As I mentioned in the post below, that CS didn't sell as owner decided to keep it. I know the owner and the car. Prospective buyers should ask about the 2nd set of calipers.
