P400 left the factory with silver or black sills.
    Ditto P400S.
SVs left the factory with silver or gold sills. This gold sills is correct-for-period only for SVs.

Sir Michael was kind enough to fly his Miura in from Hong Kong to California for my first-ever Miura Reunion in 2000. He told me the story of how he bought it new (& still owns it today!)

In early August 1969 he arrived to collect his brand new RHD Miura S ordered in Blu Notte Metalizzatto (metallic midnight blue) with tan pigskin interior. Upon arrival he was greeted by Ubaldo Sgarzi's cheerful declaration: "I'm so sorry, but your Miura, its not ready!!". He was shown the car which still lacked the drive-train and suspension. Sir Michael then took up residence at the Grand Hotel in Bologna and came to the factory each morning fr the next week, walking the car down the assembly line as Wallace et al put it all together. Consequently, 4311 has some one-off touches, such as the door reflectors that would normally be on an Islero. Such as a machined-down shifter rod to suit Sir Michael's stature, and two sets of shift knobs, both wooden & leather-covered. Finally, after a week of nursing the completion of his new Miura along, the car was finished and Wallace took it out for a spirited test drive. Sir Micheal drove it out of the factory's gates on August the 19th 1969, and still has the car to this day!

Pics below are of the car at my Miura Reunion 11 years ago.

    Chassis #4311
    Engine #30416
    Prod. #446

Thanks for sharing the story of this Miura S. Beautiful colour. I wonder how many miles it's now done?

I'm not near my notes so from memory Id say circa 20,000 km, which is not bad given that its all by one man. He does have quite a stable of cars to spread the driving over, so its not surprising that the miles are as low as they are.

He must feel a special kinship/attachment to this car having contributed to the build of it at the factory. Obviously not a man who delegates everything to others. One thing I've noticed that many rich and successful people have in common is that they are more interested in what they can do rather than what they can get.

So true. He is as down-to-earth as they get, and a great story-teller to boot! And he is about as rich & successful as one can get, being a genuine billionaire besides.

I got the middle 2 digits of the c/n in the wrong order above in post 9075 re the Dino Martin/Jay Leno P400 Miura. It should read 3237 and not 3327. Apologies for my error.

Speaking of early owners, the fellow standing closest to camera is Mark Linsay who wrote and was lead singer for Paul Revere and The Raiders (dont laugh, they were quite the serious rock group in the day).

At 17 years old he purchased a 275 GTB with his first paycheck and actually used the car to deliver newspapers with his brother.

    Cheers,
    Paul

It says in the above link that the Miura is Mark Lindsay's and it shows Dino Martin in the Miura too. Joe posted these pics a few days ago. Must be a mistake in the blog thinking they are 2 different Miuras but the same one.

OK so he was 24 and probably didn't deliver news papers with it. You can't believe anything you read in TigerBeat!

I'm sure you guys haven't seen this video jewel

featuring the 4th car built Telaio # 0961 supposedly delivered to Don Eduardo himself

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xgR5vdddKI[/ame]

don't miss the car behind the salesman
who can ID that car ?

P.S. for some odd reason this video doesn't have any MIURA tag that's why we all have missed it until now !
seems like someone uploaded it because of the actor and it is suggested only to those who like to watch old 60's spanish movies

Yes, that was a fantastic double episode called Slay Ride and I think the first time I'd seen a Miura in motion. I was about 9 years old and it was like seeing a beautiful naked woman for the first time it looked so stunning.

A few years later it came on the TV again and I recorded it on the VCR. However, my brother taped over it and we ended up fighting on the floor because he'd wiped it ha ha.
