Looks like it's been rubbing on something. Maybe it was originally incorrectly seated and was rubbing but now has seated correctly.

I wouldn't imagine it's in imminent danger of breaking and wouldn't loose any sleep over it personally.

Look for any belt dust in the area. If you find some, you have an issue that needs to be addressed.

I have seen new belts with that white edge before. It's just where they cut the belt, the fibre strands are nice and clean. :):)

But have a REAL good look around for any belt dust as Paul suggested. If you cannot see anything, I would suggest I am on the right track. :)

It's always good to have an eye for these things David than not notice them or leave them be. Sometimes if you catch issues early, they can be sorted with minimal effort and money. Well done. :)

Yup! I recall recently someone posted a comment about taking a peek at their timing belts only to find about 5mm play on one side and 20mm on the other. Tensioning pulley presumably hadn't been secured and the pulley had rotated loosing all tension. The poster in that instance was not investigating a problem, just throwing his eye over one or two things! Lucky he did!

    Hell yeah!!
They came here on 93 and because the rain they couldn't perform! We destroy their stage and all the facilities!
They came back last year with an incredible tour Death Magnetic and gave us an insane concert!
This is my favorite box set which includes the best live performance in Mexico, San Diego and Seattle!
