    Really? GM sold 125 Volts last month. There still is little push to get off gasoline when you consider the influence the oil companies have plus the fact that oil is renewable, not finite like they'd have you believe. Sounds like he's being more realistic than anything. Things could change if there truly is a push for a viable electric.

    No question that F1 cars will run full electric in the Pits and future Ferrari's will be hybrid.

    We're looking into a hybrid system for P 4/5 Competizione similar to the one Porsche used at the Ring. More torque, longer range.

    They have already prototyped a 599Hybrid......it had green stripes! :D :D :D

    Porsche is indeed leading the way, showing a TOTALLY electric Boxster in Autoweek, the other day....not earthshaking in performance specs.

    The racer hybrid OTOH is full tilt boogie.

    Does Ferrari lead, or does Ferrari follow?

    I'm no fan of electric, but I'm certain that fossil fueled cars will be mostly extinct during my lifetime and most certainly during my son's.

    They'll do electric, whether Luca wants to or not -- and likely kick the pants off everyone else. I'd bet dollars-to-donuts there is a skunk-works division in Maranello, on some slimy side street down just past the roundabout where somebody is playing with batteries.

    Luca di Montezemelo can say whatever he wants now, because by the time all the gasoline pumps are replaced with hydrogen pumps, he won't be at Ferrari.

    Hydrogen powered electric cars all already in production. Either Ferrari gets in the game with the other manufacturers or goes the way of the dinosaur.

    Petrol will still be available at pumps in 30 years time, just much more expensive than hydrogen.

    You'll have a couple of idiots driving around in electric stuff, which I don't believe will be the future. Hydrogen is where it's at, end off.

    Does hydrogen produce engine noise?

    Considering Go-Green electric Hybrid Ferrari is good but i think twice buying one :D because Ferrari without IC engine seems like missing a big thing. Now Porsche is leading Hybrid Electric cars, and Ferrari is just following others not leading.

    hahahaha - if you are patient enough to wait a couple of million years :D

    Sorry - hydrogen is a short term dead end (sort of like video machines and tape recorders - remember them?).

    Why? Well hydrogen is not an energy source - it is simply an energy carrier and needs to be produced by another primary energy source. The only advantages hydrogen currently has over batteries are range and refuelling time.

    Where do you get the hydrogen?
    Where do you get the electricity to charge the batteries?
    How long will the batteries last?
    3 years back at first $4 per gallon gas I researched converting an old Volvo wagon I had with bum computer to electric, could not get around the issue of even if electricity were free from solar fairy with zero cost collectors--lol the collectors cost about as much in energy to manufacture, install and maintain as they produce in electricity, the cost of replacing the batteries lead acid, nicad, li ion etc exceeded the cost of putting $4 a gallon gas in 10 mpg 3/4 ton truck.
    Only way hydrogen fuel cells work is if build a bunch more nuke plants and use making hydrogen as a way of filling the dips in power demand at night etc.
    Chevy volt might break even with similar sized gas powered car if free electric at 100 k miles, disregarding replacing the 10K or so battery

    The Volt, if you remove the battery plant subsidies, the development subsidies, the purchase subsidies has an initial cost approaching F car territory.
