Those are duplicate parts, FoH only uses FACTORY CERTIFIED parts....:D

Probably $200K, to do this one.
They wanted $20K for my front clip, installed.

That ad says factory parts that were repaired....they aren't NEW parts but they are still factory.

Personally, I think the car is pretty benign for what it is. Very manageable if you respect it and have some seat time in high power cars. Don't use much steering input when the boost hits and you have to use the brakes with what I'll call authority due to the lack of power assist.

Easier than a powerful 911 to gather back up after it starts to step out, IMO.

If, however, your only experience is in cars with driver aids, you are asking for trouble in a 40. It will all be over before you realize it was about to happen.

I know there is a guy down there who owns a used semi-truck dealership(looks nicer than most Mercedes dealerships) and has a real F1 car that he drives. Super nice guy, and he has a few cool Ferrari's, one of them being a red F40. I forgot his name. I hope this wasn't him....

I wonder if they'll part out the car? I have a shifter kart with the perfect size frame for that engine. ;)

    1. Plenty of stories show up on Jalopnik first. I like to think it's a mutually beneficial relationship.

    2. I'm just spreading the love to the masses, yo.

Hey Guys. Kevin has made a few valid points as to the drive-ability of the F40 and he should know since he does race in the Viper series as well as runs his F40 on the track. My opinion about the F40 (after 6K miles in 18 months). It is like driving a big go kart. It is extremely tact-able and since there are no traction control, ABS or any sort of driver aid, you dive with three things: Your hands, feet and your A**. It is a very demanding and very rewarding experience driving one of the cars. YOU HAVE TO RESPECT THIS CAR. The turbo lag is not as big of a deal as it is made out to be. It is an extremely great drivers car and behaves very well. Now some points to the accident. The road was in a curve, with a bump, old tires and, and dusty pavement. So far the biggest injury is bruised pride and as I said is a very F****D up situation. The idea that he walked away from this says a lot about the integrity of the F40.

i can't vouch for the parts myself, but my understanding from nickm is that only the doors are reproductions, all the other body panels are original Ferrari items, some repaired (blemishes or other damages)

i hope this isn't against forum rules, but since nickm is a fchat member....here is a link to his ebay page showing all the panels, that he PMd

i post only in that it might be of benefit to the poor soul F40 of this thread currently in ICU (so to speak)

Do you work for the jalopie? The Internet's automotive equivalent of The Enquirer, with an unrelenting anti-Ferrari agenda? Spreading the hate to the masses? Yo?

TheFlopNik isn't interested in facts; just anti-Ferrari sensationalism.

I'd agree there. We're not anti-Ferrari, just anti-Establishment. Also, someone called us the TMZ of car sites a few weeks ago. I think the Enquirer is maybe a step in the right direction. We're improving!

If TMZ were there, they would've filmed the whole thing, asked everyone a dozen questions, and then delved into the personal life of the owner/driver.

If The Enquirer were there, they'd say they have photographic proof (but only blurry, and in black and white) that Jesus (riding shotgun) was giving Elvis (the driver) a hand job and that's when the car crashed into the building - a building, witnesses say, that turns into a glowing purple marshmallow whenever a full moon falls on a Tuesday.

Six pages in, there'd be a follow-up story on Elvis and his frequent trips to Texas to oversee his growing meth distribution ring, and how Oswald's ghost has been seen in the vicinity whenever Elvis is in town.
