Even Jalopnik are not convinced these are real - and they have non-real texture - is there any evidence for them not being yet another mock up ?

The rear deck is quite a bit different. I wonder if the doors are the same because the curve also looks like it does not curve up as much (it may just be the viewing angle).

No, I think they are real. It's some kind of leak. This is the classic Ferrari "over rendered" way to make press release photos. I think you'll see the official ones on Tuesday to be the same.

Sorry but I'm not sure how you can say that. Comparing it to a Mr2 is like comparing Filet Mignon to a McDonald's hamburger patty. Yes, they are both meat and both cooked, but they are not the same.

I tried to rough up what the top view of the rear looks like. It's crude but it gets the idea across. You can see that the area from the side windows back to the rear wing are significantly different from the coupe. The black slots are straight from the 246 Dino gt. Something tells me the roof also has to change or it will not line up with the rear bubbles. It's hard to tell from the photos so far.

I don't like the top elevation pic of the car. The engine area does not look right. My dealer is showing me some pictures towards the end of this month.

Well, don't use my crude mock up. I think it's a lot more curvier than what I put up here.

I'm not really loving it .. and the loss of the glass engine cover is a big disapointment. I hope I find it more appealing in the flesh.

i was thinking the same thing.
my spider will be white with a black top.

the new carbon fiber shields along with grey calipers would be a cool variation as well.
    these new shields have a 3-dimensional, elevated prancing horse;
very different from the "standard" shields, and must be ordered by the dealer's parts dept., almost like an aftermarket item.
the new shields are then swapped with the old shields.

I think the MR-2 being referred is the 90's MR-2, the one with the Targa model W20 model code

And that still makes it a ridiculous reference.

No glass cover... Hmm... Guess it can be a good think if you're driving this car daily and park it everywhere...? But a soft top + visible engine cover would be nicer, IMHO (which doesn't really count, because I won't buy this car new).

Can't wait to see video of the roof mechanism... Always an event every time something new comes from Ferrari :)

It's one of those things. As with the 2012 911 pics we ran this week, we're not going to say a photo is real until we get word from the OEM.

Do I personally think they're real? I'd say 75% (as someone pointed out, Ferrari over-photoshops their real photos so it's harder to draw conclusions form obvious enhancements).

But we'll always hedge a little until we know for sure.

Love the look of this spider, especially the area over the engine...can't wait to see it in person.

+1. Not even close. The 458 Spider is awesome. Even more sleek and mean looking than the coupe IMHO.

I must admit those pictures dont make me go "wow" but I think in the metal, in natural sarroundings this car will be every bit as pretty as the coupe.

My choice: Rosso Corsa, Nero racing sears with Alcantara inserts and red carpets and.....everything in the interior that can be carbon must be in carbon!

I don't believe these are real pictures, in the first one posted, the rear of the car looks way too shopped...But i could be wrong.
