If you've used WEBos in the past, you might be interested in picking up of the HP touchpads that they just dropped - at 75% off. It's actually a nice device - just didn't have a chance at this point in time against Ipad.

But for $100, I think it is a steal. Especially if you just want to do web/email. I just ordered 4 of them, going to keep one and give the others away as gifts to some younger relatives.

    http://www.amazon.com/HP-TouchPad-9-7-Inch-Tablet-Computer/dp/B0055D67HW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1313808313&sr=8-2

Hmmm. WTF. When I finally got around to checking out, the price changed to $398 in my cart. Now I'm reading that the $100 price will start after midnight. I must have hit it while they were changing it.

Shhhhhhhh, stop telling the world! :D

Actually very good timing for me as I just bought a cheapo Sylvania to get the tablet experience and my mom picked the same up tonight.

I saw the story on engadget and just watched the cnet review. Looks like quite a deal for $100.

I'm in. Might actually pick up a few as Christmas gifts for the kids.

I was second in line, all night long, when the first WebOS device came out - the Palm Pre. I got one for myself and my daughter. The OS was great. The hardware was a disaster, both my daughter and I had to have replacement phones more than 10 times over a two year period. I finally jumped ship to Android. But I still feel the WebOS is the best OS I've used on a smartphone, period. Too bad it never took of, and probably never will.

HP is saying that they will just stop making WebOS hardware, and will still work on the OS itself. I find that hard to believe though. Either way, there is enough of a "hacker" community to support this thing for a long time.

Best Buy shows as sold out online. I assume that is to prevent a bunch of refunds tomorrow and they'll magically be in stock after midnight.

Yeah, who knows. Maybe it isn't even going to happen. Best Buy Canada has $99 on their website.

I think I'll just show up at Best Buy right at open and see what's up.

I'll give it another 20 mins or so to see what the sites say at midnight eastern but I'm planning the same strategy as you.

I saw it on slickdeals.net, but I can't find the link. It starts at Midnight, good price, I kind of want one, don't NEED one though, could be useful in class.

It's after midnight eastern and the price drop hasn't hit amazon, best buy, wal mart, office depot, or hp online.

Lol. Best Buy had a line a mile long - I found out later that they were not even doing the $99 price - they sent theirs back to HP.

Office Depot sold out in minutes. Sams sent theirs back...

    No luck here.

Samsclub had the 32's about 30 minutes ago, but by the time I got to checkout, it changed to sold out. :(

From what I can tell, we are out of luck.

    Short version:

I got 3 32GBs...2 from WM and 1 from Office Depot. Everyone was out of the 16GBs.

    Long version:

I hit one WM at 8 AM and didn't see them plus couldn't find anyone to help me.

Hit another WM at 8:30 am and they didn't have any displayed but saw two in the case. Clerk (nice guy, great customer service for a change) said the price hadn't dropped yet and that it was the manager's decision when to do it. That seemed weird, I assumed big brother in Bentonville controlled everything. I asked him to call the other store to see if they had any 16GBs and they said no but they did have 2 32GBs. However, they talked about the price change and the other store told the clerk how to do the change, what timing! During this time I saw a guy eyeballing the HPs and I asked if he was there for the sale; he said yes and I broke the news to him that they were both mine. Also, there were one or two calls to the dept looking for the HPs as well.

During this time my mom is sitting in front of Best Buy waiting for it to open. I buy the WM 32GBs with the hope she'll find the 16s at BB and I can then return the WM ones. As I'm walking back to the car my mom calls and said the BB rep told her they were all recalled and sent back to BB. I thought this was just a story for the store to cover up that the employees grabbed'em all but BubblesQuah heard the same.

I told my mom to meet me at Office Depot which is b/w the WM & BB. We walked in and my mom recognized a customer from BB and I recognized one from the first WM. Office Depot had 2 32GBs. One guy only wanted the 16 so my mom bought a 32 and the guy I recognized bought the other one. Turns out that guy, like me, left the first WM b/c he couldn't find anyone to help him either yet they had two of 'em!

I've made a few calls around and all stores are now sold out. It sounds like a lot of people ordered them last night at the full price then got a refund/credit today when they picked'em up. I thought about trying that but decided to risk it.

My mom and I stopped at her house and ordered cases from Amazon and I plan to keep an eye on the charging deck. I imagine all accessories will be discounted heavily.

The WM ones are for me and Mrs. Nut.

Not sure yet what my mom and I will do with the mini tablets we just bought. I might give mine to the kids.

This time last week I had zero tablets now I have 3 in the house!

    @4re Nut

I gave up on my geek hoarding a few years ago. :D Just wanted to pick up one as a gift for my mom (of course after I play with it a little). She rides the commuter train to her office downtown everyday, and it has wifi on it. Would be perfect for what she'd use it for, and way better than her black berry.

Oh well, I've heard that Amazon is going to have the new price tomorrow. Hoping that HP is going to put the ones they took back into their inventory soon. Checked Best Buy's outlet website thinking they'd might be there (they weren't)

    try http://www.hp.com/sbso/

I hear they have them but takes patience and refreshing thru the checkout process due to server errors.

I'm trying it as well, hoping for a 16 GB.

Not hoarding, just a sucker for a stupid good deal. :D

The heck with recharging them, at this price they are disposable! :D

Its ok, the first step is admitting you have a problem.

In stock on HP's website now :)

The ship date they list is the 25th. Guess a few retailer's are sending them back....
