A/C recharge 2001 360 HELP

The a/c in my Modena is a bit warm. I have all the tools to do the work but want to make sure I'm doing it right. Does anybody have the instructions to do so? Also is it r-12 or 134

I am not trying to be offensive here, but seriously, if you are not aware of the type of freon in your 2001 automobile perhaps you should have this recharge performed by someone with a bit more knowledge. Most 1994 and newer cars use R134a, as does your 2001 360.

 

I did it the easy way, took my car to my Ferrari Mechanic and paid him $180 to completely check the systems for leaks and also add freon. I didnt even break a sweat!

I appreciate your wanting to work on your fcar. Too many owners fear their cars. Even owners who work on other cars. Have a look at your compressor. It will detail the type of gas used to cool the AC. Next find the charging ports. These will look like tire air valves. The one closest to the compressor should be the high side. connect your gauges with the three valves closed tight. start the car and turn on the AC. If the compressor kicks in you will notice that one or your gauges reads higher than the other. If one of the gauges reads off of the chart pass the highest level, you probably have the gauges crossed. Shut down the card and reverese the connections at the car end. Not the gauge end.

 

left port low pressure side, r134a, should read about 2 bar (28 psi) running.

 

You shouldn't be able to get that part wrong, the low and high charging ports are different sizes.

Yes sir.

Low side between 20-30 psi.

High side between 200-250 psi.
