Not if you brought insurance. I don't remember how much this cost.

Oh, and one more point, the drivers were first rate. I'd like to brag that I raced against WCH, but all I really did was get in the way. :)

Will is one of the best, I have seen him upfront of the FCRA races. You aren't going to find better amateur talent overall than at SCCA races though. Series like Skippy and FCRA you have a bigger margin from front to back. SCCA amatuer racing is mostly guys that have been doing it years and years. Fast guys are always fast whatever or wherever they race, slow guys less slow. :D

Not to take anything away from Will, but I believe he came in third or so at that VIR race. Of course, there are some real homers at VIR. In fact, I can't remember the exact times, but from what I recall, the top guys in the MX-5 Skippy race were not that far off the mid-pack times of the recent FCRA event. Brakes! Who needs 'em? :)

The bigger point is that for busy professionals Skippy's fly and drive plan is pretty cool. Some of us don't have the time or the talent to fool with maintaining and transporting race cars. Plus, last time I talked to Ara, he charged about $10,000 for a Playboy Cup car weekend.

PS Unless it is a state secret or something, how much does FCRA cost for a weekend?

Will won a race at VIR, but he has been beat in FCRA too.

I'm comparing Skippy talent to SCCA, not FCRA. Heck, Mark won Ferrari Challenge series and he hasn't won all the FCRA races he's done.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the top MX-5 guys are around 2:13 and fast is around 2:15.

Here are the FCRA results on what was called an off track in the heat, I don't know as I haven't raced there before. I do know the top 430 guys were going 1:59 when same guys have been 1:57 there before.

Playboy Cup is much more expensive than Skippy. Can't touch SCCA local DIY for budget and talent though.

entry fees have usually been $250-500. Sebring we even got a $1000 stack of twenties back. tires $1,900 a set. I usually get a new set, but my New Jersey tires were 2nd weekend. you have team and support costs which I'm not use to as a DIY person. I'm still only out about $4k a weekend racing great tracks, full support, and racing a Ferrari against other Ferraris.
