Here is another donut video: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5BwX_d20rk[/ame] Here is a longer video covering the entire event: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnmoR7z630k[/ame] Was anyone in Austin, but not downtown during this, could you hear it?
Red Bull in Austin - updated here: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=334053&page=3 There's a few videos and pics out there. I'll see what I can post up later. I had to remove my checkins/photos/posts to dissuade others from venturing to the track. They would be turned away, but would also cause more traffic than necessary. It was a small gathering and they wanted to keep it that way.
If you read closely, the event WENT from a Public Appearance to a 'closed filming", in that there's a huge difference on traffic control and police coverage $$$$$ between the two.
They keep good stuff in the Medicine Cabinet, over Austin way...... I DID speak with my pardner there over this weekend, he is totally cool with two motor coaches parked on site, and about 50 Ferraris in the lawn, so it looks like the South Austin Ferrari Corral is a "go"..
http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/austin/racing/entries/2011/08/22/has_work_stopped_on_f1_track.html guess they're ahead of schedule?
That's one explanation... But I'm having a hard time believing the American-Statesman would go public with this story based solely on a few anonymous phone calls...
Perhaps someone who works in construction can chime in.... (Big Tex?) Seems plausible to me that they're waiting for money to be released from the bank. Of interest though, was that the spokesperson for COTA said the "$300MM project" guess its back to their original budget when originally announced. Red Bull seems confident in them being able to complete on time...
I watched cell phone towers being erected around the perimeter on Saturday. I saw pickup trucks driving inside the premises. So, activity od some sorts. The cell phone towers must be a direct result of the track construction, unless the local chicken and goat ranchers have started issuing cell devices to their livestock.
I have a hard time believing that the newspaper isnt interested in the thousands of hits their ambiguous story generates.
I must be getting old. I still like to think of the media as having integrity. I should know better... Certainly a possibility... time will tell.
The point about pageviews doesn't speak to lack of integrity or confirm their integrity. I am sure they are honest, hard working journalists trying to compete with pageviews... Lets put ourselves in the shoes of potential anonymous callers... A construction worker or dump truck hauler who has been bringing home Overtime paychecks for a few months comes home to tell his wife there is no work left to do until the next scheduled construction bank draw funds his bosses company, and she has to skip getting her nails done, who's she gonna call? She doesnt understand the financing minutae of multi million dollar projects. So she hears "the company ran out of money" and tells her sister in law, who tells her to contact the media with the dish....
You're a creating a lot of dots to complete your picture... Plausible... but there is another plausible answer as well.
