The 312 P (1969), where is the other one?

I believe it is in the Mas du Clos collection in France?

 

While I don't know for sure, for some reason I believe much of the Mas du Clos collection has been sold off and whittled down. Sad to see such an amazing collection and labor of true love being broken up, if true. OTOH, it's good to see some of these cars moving around.

The photo of the car from above outdoors in El Wayne's post was shot by yours truly May 1st 1998 when I went back by appointment to Mas du Clos one week after the Tour Auto passed there.

Pierre Bardinon and I pushed the car out of its spot in the incredible sanctuary museum, past the Le Mans winners -for years there were four of them there-, with just a centimeter to spare, then there was a special ramp to get the car out and I did my photoshoot which came out in Cavallino a few issues later.

Then after the shoot he said: do you want an egg?...and they invited me to lunch in their amazing kitchen which has a rough slab of marble as a table and huge hotel size oven. His wife Yann and one of his sons were there, good people.

I got the full tour of the museum and then went round the circuit in...a Peugeot!

Mr Bardinon is now ailing unfortunately and while a number of the cars are still there, inclduing 0870 as far as I know they are no doubt subject to constant offers.

For Mr. Pierre Bardinon, he has truly been an inspiration to all of us in his passion for preserving and sharing the history of les magnifiques chevaux.

I want to send Monsieur Bardinon my best wishes for his health to improve. I hope he has the opportunity to enjoy many good days to come.

My pleasure Dave, it is one of my top three or five favorites, first saw it at the Cartier exhibition in the late 1980's near Paris when both the Bardinon and Setton collections were combined for an amazing display.

It was also very special to see the other surviving one, 0872, at Cavallino 2003 and at Le Mans Classic 2010.

The Bardinon Collection was featured also in Cavallino magazine issue number 50. There were some very interesting comments about his 1964 250 GTO in that story.
Mr Bardinon hosted some guests from the Ferrari Club of America who made the long journey to see him back in the early 1970's. The collection has been famous for a long time.

I am pretty sure that was 0872. I have photos of it I took at the Nurburgring in 2008.

Maybe the slickest shape ever on a Ferrari.

 

Someone should write a book about the Mas du Clos collection, including pictures of all the cars that are and were there. I know several books and magazines have pictures of them, but not a dedicated book or article with pictures of all cars.

I visited the collection in 1999 and unfortunately it wasn't allowed to take pictures inside, so instead I tried to get a mental picture of the one that most appealed to me. It was the 312 P '69! I just stood there soaking up all the lines and being amazed about how low it was and how tiny the cockpit.

Later the 375 Plus spider was taken to the private track so I did manage to get some pictures of that car.
