I love the fact there is no clear engine cover; it harkens back to the F355.

Those air intakes look like they could suck in a small child. So awesome...

Looks more like a targa top than a spyder, a 458 GTS... Roof line now as elegant as coupe, but then that is the same on many such cars. IMHO the 430, roof down, was a better system. Looked more like a glam spyder compared to the coupe version. Very heavy treatment on 458 at the buttress area.

Will sell well of course but am having second thoughts about getting one.

    I think it looks great!

My only concern would be how the top is going to hold up. We all know how hot it gets back there. What is the paint and the upholstery on the top going to look like after a few 1000 miles of hard driving?

Probably only be allowed to drive 30 miles at a time , under 60 mph, with the top down to not void the warranty :D

That's the first thing to came to mind when i saw that roof lowering to the engine compartment, especially in the Middle East and tropical countries.

Well it sure is nice with the top down but not trying to be biased or a naysayer but with the top up it reminds me of a larger tesla... I like the coupe lines better but I like the convertible lines better when top down....

Cool that they used the 3 Dino hood intakes for the decklid of the 458 spider.

the ferrari press pics are always a bit weird looking but i think they nailed it. IMO a lot more thought went into this than the previous two spiders.

I totally agree with you. To me, the 458 spider doesn't have the same charm as the F430 Spider - and like you said, it looks like more like a Targa. I like the lines of the coupe rear side window SO much better than the way the lines are on the Spider. Oh well. :(

IMO, this looks better - without the triangle in the back.

it is beautiful top down, but top up I don't like how the window gets cut off when it tapers to the rear tires. I prefer the coupe top up. maybe someone could create a tapered insert or paint it to match the coupe window lines.

    otherwise beautiful!

Actually, it's a bit better than I imagined. I like some of the additional curves in the rear deck and the black vents.

    They have a winner there...

Now, let's see McLaren copy it! :)

I much prefer the coupe for once. Usually was torned between a 360/430 coupe/spider but the 458 looks much better in coupe form. I cant wait to see the Stradale version.

I love it... Ferrari makes one of the most innovative spiders EVER and people on Fchat whine!

Well, all of you who don't think it looks that good, you can tell me that when you see me drive it as you watch from my tail lights rapidly accelerating away from you! :)

It's not whining. It's an opinion that's every bit as valid as yours. To my mind, while the rear deck is very interesting (and I do like it in its own right), it's at the expense of those fabulous curves that swoop into the tail on the coupé. And that's too high a price to pay.

    Ahhhh ok....

But on those you have the hoop which takes away from noticing that its offset. Either way, everything is done for a reason and im sure they have one. So are there pop up rollbars now? I wonder where they are hidden.

Pop up roll bars like the California I'm sure. It's actually safer as they can extend farther up.
