I just heard an attorney down here that was also a pilot crashed in Oregon. He had TV commercials with his firm info on his helicopter that he flew himself. Seems like a lot of crashes recently.
From looking at the photo, it looks like it was on floats. Those things don't fly very well on a good day, and if it was warm, probably had little climb ability. A shame, long time pilot, but it happens. Art
News stated: "a well-known maritime and personal-injury attorney, was flying a single-engine, four-seat Maule aircraft alone shortly after noon over Brookings, Ore., when he crashed into a set of trees behind a home. The plane then fell into a ravine, authorities said." And N # on plane depicted in news photo of crash is clearly "N1998F" which upon query comes back: Manufacturer: CESSNA Model: 172R Serial: 17280347 Year of Manufacture: 1998 Number of Seats: 4 Certification Issue Date: 13 Apr 1998 Builder Certification Code: Type Certificated Aircraft Speed: 0 Aircraft Type: Fixed wing single engine Aircraft Category Code: Land Airworthiness Date: 30 Jan 1998 registered to an individual out of Pasco, WA. Photo looks like a float plane to me. What gives???
Look again. It was N199BF. I believe I know the guy who used to own it (the article really messed up his name).
