Deserves it's own thread... For those who haven't seen... Hami and Maldonado came together / turned into each other after Q2 on the cool down lap... What are the Stewards going to do? Seems black flag offense to me... but for one or both?
To the untrained eye (me), it looked like Hammi was going slow; PM went to go around him but Hammi sped up and tried to block him. PM didn't give way, if he even saw Hammi speed up, and they came together. Fault for both parties but I think Hammi more at fault. Mark
To me it looks like they both turned in, in an aggressive unnecessary move,... 50/50 IMHO... but given Hami's history... it's time for a big slap. I think race exclusion is warranted. Doubt they'll do it due to fans at the race and effect on WDC / WCC... I predict they move both cars to the back of the grid...
Why? No harm done, they only annoyed each other, so what? This isn't accounting, this is racing for crying out loud.
After looking at it further, I think it's 50/50. My dislike for Hammi may have been clouding my judgment. I agree with Andreas, fine them both. Mark
Strange that not one of the presenters put any blame on LH. But as soon as it hits Fchat ..... Mind yo its Mansel whos the race steward, he dislikes Hamilton to.
I think the problem here is that.... trying for a better wording, off track racing and using the cars as boxing gloves, maybe Mald showing off to world he isn't going to let Hamilton boss him around. Ham has built up a rep of aggressive driving and maybe the other drivers are giving it back with double barrels, I also thought in Canada I think MS gave LH a hard time, on some corner. The trouble is they were not racing, so that is taking it a step too far, the stewards may send out a signal here with some nasty penalty.
That's pretty much how I see it. Considering the ridiculous penalties for "racing incidents",... I can't see either drive getting anything less than a huge penalty for this...
From Sawards blog Pastor Maldonados move on Lewis Hamilton in qualifying at Spa was not the first time that the Veneuzuelan has got into trouble in the course of his career, notably at Monaco in 2005 when he was given a four-race ban from the Renault World Series after ignoring yellow warning flags and hitting and seriously injuring a track marshal. So to me the blame seems to being lain on Mald doorstep. I don't really want to see any heavy penalities, but I fear there might be to nip this sort of thing in the bud, and send a message out it will not be tolerated in any shape or form.
Hamilton is a menace on track this year. Any other driver with that many indiscretions on track in one year would face multiple penalties. Because he is Ron Dennis' boy is not an excuse to allow an unsafe driver on track. People are concentrating to much on the after lap incident as opposed to Hamilton almost punting PM off the track in the final corner during quali. If someone else is where LH wants to be, he just drives them off track, even his own team mate. Passing requires skill, and patience, any ****** can just drive another driver off track.
I don't like fines or penalties but this incident was just DUMB on all sides. If I were his boss, I'd have a strong word with him. That might be the biggest penalty. Someone at some point has to get Hamilton's head on straight. That someone has to be inside McLaren. He's fighting to be world champ. He needs to be above this level.
Come on really? PM left a hole a mile wide in the last chicane. Hell to be honest he took the last chicane like a house wife in a minivan. I guess that's not true, a house wife would've hit both curbs like your suppose too. I guess he did it more like a Tennessean who think they've got an imaginary trailer behind them. First swing left before making a right hand turn. Then swing out right to make a left hand turn.
Explain to me, what I'am I missing, why in this incident is it all Hamiltons fault. I need to know ...I look forward to it.
Contact after the flag and close of the session is inexcusable. Both were clearly irritated with each other and likely frustrated with not getting an extra lap. Looked to me that LH was slow off of La Source forcing Mal along side and he clearly jinked at PMal, but that is not where the contact came from. PMal seemed to take offense to being jinked at and stuffed LH. Both should receive some sanction, with PMal receiving the bulk of it, as there is a difference between pointing the gun and pulling the trigger.
I think it was both of their faults for being dumb and the tape is pretty unclear who turned into who.
BOTH acted like idiots, so what. Let them figure it out. Who needs all this nannying? Would be different if one of them were innocent, but that's not the case.
+1 They're both clowns!..... My issue (with both of them) is the track was red. Shouldn't happen. Cheers, Ian
LH was ****** for hitting PM in the final corner... twice! PM got mad about it and tried to do a "ricer fly by" but came too close. LH saw this coming and tried to block it. Collision. Both parties at fault, but it started with Hamilton on the final hot lap.
You caught it before I changed it! Sorry about that. I realized after I wrote it that it sounded too one sided and I changed it just a few seconds later... sorry! But I think Hamilton knew something was about to happen and allowed it to.
