For a 32Gb? I have been looking everywhere and cant find 32gb anywhere. They are out of stock or they cancel your order..Any hint where to look?
No. you know there's still 100K of these in storage that HP has to dump. They'll go via HP's website or woot or something similar.
if you've got firefox as a browser, download an add-on called "check4change". It will monitor a website for changes and alert you. Basically you'd select the touchpad page on HP, set the monitor timer, and turn up your speakers to hear the change alert... Then buy one!
Just be patient. Once the initial rush has passed from the news of the price cut... They'll still be stuck with thousands of them that nobody wants. They're just using the "out of stock" tatict to squeeze as much out of them as they can during this breif time of interest.
Gone even before my post edit time had lapsed..... Nevermind.... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/vbclassified.php?do=ad&id=7640 Anyone? Figured I'd give first chance here before I toss it into the Craigslist wolves....
Well, it got me looking into things I could use it for at work. Forms (prontoforms vs. iformbuilder) was a big one, as was remote access - Logmein has an IOS app, but not a webOS one. And then even some of the basic apps that I'd use for business don't compare to what is available either canned on the Ipad or for purchase. If I was just going to use it for email and web browsing - no problem, for the price I'd stick with the HP. I ended up buying a 32GB Ipad 2 with 3G and wireless. That was the other issue for business use of the HP - only wireless access. So, in a nutshell - my little fit to buy a $149 Touchpad turned into a "wow, I can't do without one for work now I gotta spend $800 instead".
I can definitely understand how that happened, but better you than me! I take a lot of handwritten notes for work and this was one of the primary benefits I saw of a tablet. Nothing fancy like handwriting recognition or transcribing just a way to take, organize, & store notes. However, I'm pretty bummed that I can't find an app for WebOS that is even remotely close to Note Taker HD for the ipad.
That's another app that I'd make use of. I pretty much blew off Ipad (and any "pad" for that matter) as a business device - but I can see now that I was wrong - the apps that look cool but in real life were useless have progressed into actually useful and productive. So much more productive than what I can do with my currently laptop. Using Iformbuilder is going to save me so much time, effort and paperwork I'll pay for the IPad in 2 weeks.
Just rec'd an email with the above title but alas it is not good news, just a push to get us suckers to buy more HP products albeit at a discount. There was this tease though... A few weeks? How in the hell is that reasonable in this age of inventory management? On second thought, the answer probably lies within my question.
HP to bring back TouchPad for last production run HP update to boost TouchPad 'functionality' Maybe I'll eventually get my Note Taker app. Speaking of apps, I was too late for another round of free apps.
Really great news. Maybe HP ought to develop some apps in house, or get 1st party developers on board in a real sense.
I read an article today, I should have bookmarked it, somewhere that said they are now going to produce more of them.
I say go ahead. I would NOT spend more than $199 for this thing. AT $199 it makes sense. Any amount higher than that - iPad.
I've been working with mine for a few days now. The basic functions are very nice. The lack of apps is pretty glaring. Unless I'm just 'missing' something, it's hard to see any functional comparison to an iPad. (Don't worry BQ -- I'm fine with it, and have a wee hidden agenda for this baby!)
