How can one argue with such a tightly reasoned reply?
    ;)

While I admire Michaels skills greatly this was not a race where passing was particularly difficult and his result was about his average.

I think Hamilton did the right thing here in this admission. Looking at the replay, I felt he could have done a better job. Still, it was a racing accident. That's why we race.

    I wasn't making an argument.

I've never heard anyone claim that coming from 24th to 5th was just an average sort of drive.....until now.

I thought it was as inspiring a drive as his last race before 'retirement' at least.

Whenever Michael outpoints Nico, most of our F-chat colleagues are ecstatic. I thought MS raced exceptionally well and deserved fifth, albeit via Maylander to some extent.

When Shoe leads at Spa due to a stonking qualifying run and lightening quick reflexes while his car attempts to incinerate itself on the grid, I'll guarantee kudos will go out from a small province in Canada. I have no idea why Nico seems to be routinely despised on here. He races clean and uses his head to accumulate points given the limitations of the Merc. While other teams measure the merit of a younger teammate against veterans, Nico has done an incredible job against a 7 time WDC, who is universally known as the leader of the team. So what gives ? Want him in a Ferrari or not ?

Guess you already know my opinion.

When you work out why anyone dislikes any of the drivers, can you fill me in? I don't get it.

I didn't see this posted anywhere, so sorry if it has been, but from Lewis' twitter...

After watching the replay, I realize it was my fault today 100%. I didn't give Kobayashi enough room though I thought in was past.

Apologies to Kamui and to my team. The team deserves better from me. Best wishes, Lewis

    well done!

I've certainly been VERY critical of Hamilton, his driving style, and his attitude. This is HUGE, in my view. VERY PROFESSIONAL, me thinx :) :)

Welcome to the elite of Formula One drivers, Mr. Hamilton. THIS attitude, makes you worthy of a true champion's title :)

He didn't move off his line Steve, he continued to move to the left to set himself up to arc the turn as per the Taruffi doctrine. Unfortunately, he didn't think Kobi would be remotely close after his pass and thought the Sauber driver was suitably dispensed. Kobi being the eternal Kamikaze pilot we all know and love, refused to lay off and planned his almost globally reported return pass attempt based on McHam's entrance to the corner.

Unfortunately, he didn't expect McHam to believe he became Claude Rains and clipped him.

    Racing accident imho ;).

Action packed race, Spa is just awesome. Pretty flawless drive from Vettel and nice drives from Webber (after his **** start), FA, JB and MS! I wanted to see Zo on the podium but I was happy enough to see Michael secure 5th. Was a very enjoyable race to watch.

As for the Hamilton incident, it was a racing incident. I imagine that things happen very fast heading into the braking zone after that long straight and he simply thought he had cleared Kobayashi further than he did because Kobi was able to use his DRS. LH has taken responsibility for the crash and apologized to Sauber/McLaren which I thought was very upstanding of him. His maturity seems to be improving.

    Wouldn't be the first time.
I respect MS and hate no driver. He drove a clean and efficient race and passed a lot of cars. Thing is that they were demonstrably slower and he did it in a race where passing was more prevalent across the board than in most races.
Again I ask who did he beat that usually finishes ahead of him? Only Nico and Massa. Both of whom had mechanical issues.
A dramatic race for him not a game changer.

Yeah...shame on him for not being able to beat guys in cars 1-2 seconds a lap faster than his. lol

Dramatic? That'll do. Game changer? No, of course not...unless he adds to his 7 WDCs nothing's going to be a game changer for him.

btw....using your logic, if passing was more prevalent than usual, I guess that gave others the opportunity to overtake him too.

Actually, there were a few passes that he made look very easy.

Anyone know why he took so long to overtake Nico? He caught him quite quickly.

Nico slowed because he was low on fuel.

No one in a fast car passed him. Where's the mystery there?

BTW as to the popular vote. McDonalds is the most popular resteraunt on earth. Does that make it the best?

On another note, the SC really screwed FA's strategy since he was rapidly catching Vettel and they were due to stop at roughly the same time and he could have gotten the mediums out of the way then and had the softs to challenge later. Oh well.

I also still don't really see why a SC was necessary for LH's incident..particularly the amount of laps they had to run around behind it. The McLaren was well out of the way.

    Also tires....

Nico was on the Blizzaks while MS had wide ovals, or thereabouts (according to Shoe).

    I'll say it slowly.
Nico cut his speed to preserve fuel.

Because until Nico had to slow to conserve fuel he was sufficiently faster than Michael to stay ahead.

I don't know what's wrong with you today. MS caught Nico easily....by over a second a lap I think it was...then stayed behind him for a few laps....so fuel or no fuel, MS was much faster for many laps, yet when he caught Nico, he hesitated for a few laps before overtaking and I'm wondering if anyone knows why. Did he realise Nico was a sitting duck and just waited until it was convenient? lol...or did he think "this is my team mate...better be real careful" or what?
