I am Spanish and still relatively unknown. I race cars. I have something very few drivers have. Next year I will surprise you all. Big time. WHO AM I? (The "I" does not refer to myself. I wish it did... Well, on second thought, I don't....)
I have another riddle for you, how long will it take to get a moderator to remove this thread because it is generally pointless. You have the scoop on something interesting - up to you to share or not, but why do you need to create a thread to not share. Given some of the people on this forum, and the information they happily share - this sort of riddle approach is just lame. I'm off to another thread now to read something actually interesting.
The thread will not be removed. I, for one, thought the approach was light-hearted, fun, and I am quite interested in the answer. Your post, however, adds nothing of value. Please don't make any more with this tone. Regards, Andrew.
Then why post? This is a great thread! I was thinking Dani Clos as well but I can't imagine what he would have that others don't. So the boobs got me to thinking....are you Maria de Villota?
And a daddy who was a Formula 1 driver? Maria de Villota? That girl still has a lot to prove to be in Formula 1, but it would be refreshing. Bernie would love it!
You guys are awesome... I thought this was going to be much, much harder, and that I would be having fun with you all for a while, but no... Too many knowledgeable people on Fchat... At the third post, Greyboxer, who is either very perceptive or very dirty minded (or both!), got the boobs right. Then, only four posts later, Joeguitar solved the riddle! I would have never thought so! The correct answer is Maria de Villota. I know Maria's father well and consider him a very good friend (Emilio de Villota, ex F1 driver from 70's), our country houses are in the same village, and his daughter is charming and hugely talented. I have even taken two track day courses with her, each one reinforcing my conviction that I am basically clueless on the track... With a 70% level of confidence, I predict that Maria will drive at least one F1 race in 2012. Stay tuned! Edit: De Soto also got it right, and his comments are accurate.
Excellent that you know Emilio de Villota!! He participated in an amazing era of F1, so I'm sure he has plenty of stories to tell. Do you have any personal knowledge of how adept his daughter is in her racecraft? Bernie will certainly be licking his chops to have her in the series (I would doubt with Renault, though, surely?)
I am incapable of judging her racecraft, particularly at the level we are discussing. I can only vouch for her absolute and fanatical dedication. De Soto said it best: She has a lot to prove, it would be refreshing, and Bernie... Well, we all know Bernie... She has only tested with Renault, and the 2012 Renault lineup doesn't seem to be a done deal. Incidentally, she told me recently that by far the hardest thing about the Renault tryout was the physical part. Maria has been training non-stop for months with top sports professionals. I had not realized how perfectly in shape you have to be do drive a F1 car nowadays, and how much time those guys (and that gal) dedicate to pure physical training. That's today of course. In the old days they smoked like fiends, never walked when they could drive, and celebrated victories as well as defeats in a very liquid fashion.
That's really cool. But she's 32, or were the numbers transposed? Either way, it would be awesome to see that happen--keep us posted if you hear anything.
Update. This is serious: It is now HIGHLY likely that Maria will sign with Lotus-Renault (soon to be Lotus) as #3 (or #4) for 2012, hoping for #2 in 2013. I would not be at all surprised if they let her race at least once next year. It seems that my prediction might well come true, a woman (my neighbour!) will soon be back in F1... I will beg her to drive my Ferraris! Stay tuned. Image Unavailable, Please Login
A woman in F1 would be awesome. I hope the 107% rule isn't going to stop her from participating in the races. Women in F1 haven't lasted very long in the past. In 1980 I watched Desire Wilson trying to qualify for the British GP but she failed. Hopefully Maria will do better. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
