The 458 has been advertised with a more fuel efficient power plant than the previous cars. My 458 gets 10 MPG . My previous 430's and for that matter 360's all got between 12 and 14. It's not a big deal but with the smaller tank it's kind of a pain.

Has anyone else taken the milage and if so what are you getting.

+1. Isn't mpg a function oh how fast you drive the 458 anyway? Worrying about mpg in a 458 seems a bit silly IMHO.

My 355 got about 9 MPG in the city and about 11 on the Highway, my 360 Spider was about 10 MPG in the City, and my 430 averages about 12 MPG City and about 15 Hwy if I am being easy on it. But as you guys said, who cares!

My F355 gets 21-22 on interstates at 65-70 MPH, and about 6 on the race track.

Mitch that is amazing on the Interstate, mine was a 95 6 Speed Coupe and I think the best I ever did was about 13 MPG.

    Fuel Tank Capacity
    - F430: 25.1 gal
    - 458: 22.7 gal

A difference of 2.4 gallons, which is approximately 24 miles based on 10 mpg.

According to fueleconomy.gov, the 430 has a combined mpg rating of 13 mpg and the 458, 14 mpg - a difference of 1 mpg. This gives the 430 a theoretical combined range of 326.3 miles and the 458, 317.8 - a difference of 8.5 miles.

My 2010 560-5 Lambo Galardo gets 17.1 based on the dash readout. my 458 gets about 12 mpg around town. My 600 hp Mosler 900 MTS gets about 20 mpg, not sure why except it is a lighter car.

Nor sure on the ZR1 or the other cars. As someone said who cares :)

Is it "who cares" because of the cost of fuel - or "who cares" that Ferrari claims that the power plant is more efficient and the number says otherwise? LOL

Bear in mind also that the 458 is offered with stop-start (HELE) technology and that might be the figures you are seeing.

It also has to be remembered that mileage is in accordance with a specific test, i.e. a test in which someone would drive a Civic, Clio, 500. The auto mode of the 458 gearbox also defaults to a high mileage setting. Not how someone truly drives a 458. Your right foot is the ultimate decider of mpg!

When I was young and just out of college I bought my lifes dream , a 1968 Corvette. Since I had no money I bought the small engine and was light on the throttle. I am sure this has not changed much with young folks today except it may be tougher for them then it was in my days.

Fast forward today and I was sucessful and lucky in business and I have many collector, exotic and super cars. I am in the fall of my life and enjoy buying and driving many cars so I do it and do not care.

If I was young today I would buy a volt, A brillant car!

Sorry for the long response but you asked :)

It's all in how you use the go pedal.

I'll second that one! If I got 8 MPG on my F430 driving in the city, I'd be happy!

On the open freeway I got nearly 20 though.

If I remember correctly, I thought the 458 had a BIGGER tank than the F430.

I care, about wastefulness and truth in advertising. Cars of similar performance get low 20s on the highway. Even mid 20s.
The more efficient, the better. I wouldn't really want to deal with a heavy old Lambo V12.
Maybe I'm a tree hugger...no no too Republican.

All EPA mileage tests are done the exact same way for all manufacturers and all cars. So, the claim of false advertising is bogus.

For what is it worth, after 8000 miles as a daily driver my California is averaging 14.28 mpg with a high of 21.2 on a 600 mile Interstate road trip. I agree with the comment that your right foot will largely determine ur mpg. I have an app called Road Trip LE that keeps track of this stuff.

I have been able to get 15% better than EPA milage on every car I have owned since 1990 on the highway and in the city--and this was before EPA lowered the milage ratings a couple years ago "to more closely correspond to what people see in real life". For example: In my 2006 SUV (EPA rated 15/19) I am seeing 23.9 MPG over 63K miles (its entire life).

Its all in how you use the go pedal (and somewhat on how little you use the whoa pedal.)

I do. Not because of the cost of fuel but just as an interesting data point. Maybe I'm odd but I've always tracked my cars' fuel economy. Muscle cars and exotics. Although I guess a 911 isn't really an exotic...

I just find it interesting and I prefer cars with good highway range too.

i honestly cant remember the last time i checked the mpg of any car that i own...Let alone how much gas costs...but i can see why some people care about gas prices and mpg. On a Ferrari though? really who cares lol

There are times when range matters. Those of us who are pilots may think that way a bit more.
