So I have a salesman, yes, I get that; that wants to tell me not to buy those two colors on Ferari because they are the worst for resale, any truth to that? Yes, he is selling a black car, looking at a 550, thanks, dog

Hi Dog...I think you should buy the color you personally like and drive it. I like silver cars, but I bought a black f430 because my other cars are silver or some shade of gray/silver. If the only reason you are buying a Ferrari is for potential resale then he is probably correct that silver is not the best resale color, but if you are buying it to drive then get what you prefer and drive it like you stole it! Just my two cents.

How do you know a salesman is lying? his lips are moving.

Ignore the sale BS. Get the color you want. Some of the most beautiful and desirable ferraris are Argento, Canna de Fucile and Silverstone.

In my personal opinion, I would much rather have a 550 in silver or gray than black. Black cars are a pain to keep looking nice.

It is your preference. I always buy silver if it is a Porsche. Had a Silver 512 BBi which was quite easy to sale. Of my 5 Ferrari autos 2 red, 1 white, 1 yellow,1 silver. Red is my favorite!

Silver or gray are the two best colors for most Ferraris.

I have no experience in this matter so take these comments as FWIW...

All things being equal there is more market demand for black than silver/gray and that applies across the Ferrari (and likely all exotics) spectrum.

That said, what is your hold period and need for a relatively quick sale? If you plan to keep the car for the long term then buy what you like; if you need an exit strategy short term might be best to go black. Again, this is all things being equal, which they probably aren't. Don't pass up a good deal on a perfect silver for a "great" deal on a lesser black.

Also, ask Jim his thoughts. ;)

Happy shopping and keep us posted; you are required to post pics post-purchase! :)

Make sure you buy a color good for resale even if you don't care for it.

Also, make sure you keep the miles off it so it will be more desirable for the next owner, just as Napolis.

Personally, I love silver and grey.

But, for resale purposes I would stay away from red, blue, or green interiors on silver cars.

Stick with black, maybe that dark dark blue, charcoal, or grey interiors.

    Just my opinion.

Truth, they show every nick and scratch, actually silver or the darker silver metallics look very classy on the 550 IMO.

PM '308GTB' here I thought he posted up a nice 550 in that Section recently???
He owns a nice 550 in addition to his older 'glass 308.

f430 looks very elegant in silverstone. That 599 looks good too.

Beautiful cars Hawkeye and Tillman. Just goes to show how some colors look better on certain Ferrari models.. I wanted a color that would show off the beautiful curves on the 599 and I think I found it.....Kevin
