    Guys/Dolls I have purchased a '94 F348 Spider w/ 23k miles. It will be due for an oil/filter change in early spring/late winter. I know 5W40 synthetic, but what brand does anyone recommend? Is there a general consensus of the proper or perfered brand? RP, RedLine, Shell,etc..... Thanks.........

    You don't have an "F" anything; it's just 348. Use 10-40 synthetic Redline or equivalent. Mobil 1 used to have one, now its 10-30 or 5-40. Depends on your normal operating temperature which of those to use. To me the 40 is more important to SoCal cars.

    Opinions will vary...I use Redline myself and am quite content....by the way, the factory spec is 10W40 hot 5W40

    If you are not intending any track use then basically any full synthetic 5W-40 oil will be just fine.

    If you are intending any track use, look for 5W-40 oils with an HTHS number of 4.2 or above and 1100 ppm of zinc (or phosphorous).

    If you are paranoid about wear and expensive bills, also look for 1100 ppm of zinc (or phosphorous) (see below.)

    Neither of these numbers (HTHS or zinc) will be found on the bottle so you have to do your own research on the net before going and getting the oil. Sorry, that is the state of the oil industry today.

    And STAY AWAY from oils with the STAR BURST symbol.

    Mobile 1 10W/40, only because Mobile was used the previous two times it was changed. Might as well stick with it now......

    Few Ferrari dealers will put a 10w-40 in a 348. The factory spec changed to 5w-40 synthetic many years ago...mid 1990's I believe, with the switch to Shell products.
