HP Touchpad fairwell

I want one of these, at 99.00 i can see if I like the ease of it over my laptop or phone without an expense.

Every online retailer i've checked is 'out of stock'. I put a call into my sister in law who works for HP to see if i can get one from her.

Anyone have a headsup for a $99 deal online today?

 

? Maybe I'm doing something wrong. If I'm in an app on the Touchpad and want to go to another app, how do I do it? I've been hitting the button, thinking that's the only way...

 

Doubtful. You're best bet is probably to register with HP for email notification when the new inventory arrives in a "few weeks".

 

flick one of the bottom edges up, I usually hit one of the corners. The net result is the same effect as hitting the button.

FYI, I'm using mine at the moment to watch ALMS practice. Now my laptop isn't tied up for ALMS action; I can FChat concurrently!

Ordered one from the sister in law (works at HP) and she tells me they (HP) are planning another Touchpad inventory sale, she's guessing late Nov.

 

Wow, I was hoping a "few weeks" meant late Sept.

Tell her you need about 20 16GBs for your FChat buddies...and free shipping!

 

She doesn't know for sure but she knows how they operate. I did ask her to try to give me a heads up beforehand so I can reserve or purchase several more or at very least let you guys know just before the kick off. If I can. Get more than one I will let you know nut

 

Thanks. I've got the whole Nut family signed up for the email notification and I'm watching the blogs.

I'm still not certain but if I can get one or two 16GBs for $99 I might buy them for the kids.

I saw an ad for Gardner White Furniture. They are offering 32 gb Touchpads and 51" TV's with some livingroom sets lol.

Also I saw an article about some being on QVC recently as bundles only.

I suspect HP is requiring/encouraging stores to bundle them with accessories to help clear inventory. I'm a buyer for a 16GB at $99 but not $199 for a bundle.

Bah, humbug!

 

I have two iPads (original and 2) and I bought a Touchpad just to see if it was any good (for $150, no brainer) - very impressive OS! IMO much more natural than the iPad. Unfortunately as WebOS apps are limited, there are only a few uses for it, for me, but I love the touchstone stand and I use to to browse while watching TV in bed or on the couch. Well worth the discounted price of admission.

Definitely agree 100%. Although, mine has received less and less use. The cord to charge the battery is pretty weak; and the plastic case around the device is brittle.

The best features are email, and web browsing. photo/media browsing could be better. Apps... you just can't tell which apps are developed for the tablet, or for a phone very easily.

 

Please clarify. Weak as in it is physically coming apart? My charger stays plugged in one place so it gets little or no physical contact; thus I haven't had any issues.

I might start traveling soon and have thought about getting another charger while they are on sale.

Ipad (original not "2") cases fit great and you can still find them at discount stores (Marshall's, Big Lots, etc.) for ~ $10 that originally went for $40+.

Funny you mention that because I had the same complaint. A few days ago I noticed that it says "For TouchPad" above the price of the app if the app is optimized/designed for the tablet. I assume this was one of the changes in the recent app catalog update b/c I'm fairly certain I would have noticed it before.
