Anyone seen Midnight in Paris? That's the inflight movie and was wondering if it's any good. Edit: Just want to clarify that I'm not asking about the Paris Hilton Porno. At least I hope they aren't showing that on my flight.
Contagion, definitely mediocre. A good ABC Sunday Night Movie (if they still do that), but not something to shell out money for.
Latest version of Conan the Barbarian. Straigth linear: Promising young warrior's heroic father is killed in an evil warlord's attack on their village> young warrior grows up to be oiled hunk and great swordsman bent on getting the evil warlord> warrior finds evil warlord and does battle with all manner of demonic apparitions> evil warlord captures beautiful girl who warrior rescues while killing evil warlord> warrior rides off into sunset leaving beautiful girl behind safe but wondering if he'll ever come back for her. The End. Good special effects & battles. 1983 Arnie original allround much better.
"Hanna" waaayyy better than I thought it was going to be. Kinda Bourne Identity "ish", worth watching!!
Andrei Tarkovsky's 1956 film Ivan's Childhood. Mesmerizing. Really starting to see the brilliance of this guy and why Ingmar Berman and Stanley Kubrick were so ga ga about him.
102 Minutes that Changed America. 2008 documentary of the 9/11 attacks in NYC, as seen through camcorders of people that were at the scene. There was also some news footage as well. By now we all see the same shots of the towers falling and the same scenes from the street. Over and over. This one attempted to show a different perspective and does a very good job. The chaos, fear, and disbelief of that day is captured very well. Watching the desperate people waving shirts and flags from the upper stories, only to see a few of them eventually jump out, arms and legs flailing, was difficult to watch. Seeing dozens of firemen humping hoses and gear into the structure, and knowing most of them left children fatherless that day also rekindled the emotons all of us felt at the time.
7 Days. Canadian flick about a surgeon whose daughter is rapped and killed and he plots his revenge on the rapist. Very graphic but i liked it. I like how it was filmed. Dark and simple.
I went to the Asian gala premier of Senna last night. I resisted watching it on the small screen as I wanted that big screen experience the first time I saw it, & I wasn't disappointed. As a documovie I thought it was brilliant, & I was amazed at the amount of film footage they had of the great man. When the words Imola 1994 appeared on the screen part of me wanted to stand up at walk out, not wanting to see the tragic end of what was a remarkable man, career & life. I'm not ashamed to say that I did shed a tear. If you haven't seen it already, I thoroughly recommend it.
Contagion, meh....kinda had high hopes for it but it was bland. Some of the sub-plots were spread too far apart. One funny thing I'd like to point out. There was a older woman two rows behind us that kept coughing during the film. I made a comment out loud that she she was either paid a marketing company to spook everybody or she really is sick & will most likely die while infecting everyone in the theatre before the fim is over. The comment got a few laughs.
