Looks like I'm finally going to get my hands on a UT F355 GTS. Those of you who do customs I've got a couple questions.

I want to swap out the sport seats with the normal seats I have in my GTB, how hard is it to do this, I'm guessing it's just a matter of taking both apart and then removing the seats and reglueing.

How hard is it to add vented discs and calipers, I have a HW F355 I could use as a donor if it would work?

    Thanks

I would be easiest to just switch out the chassis's between the 2 models.

Wouldn't the chassis be different going from GTB to GTS?

I don't think that there is any difference between the 2 models other that the GTS has the removable top and better detail. These UT Ferraris are very simple models with only 4 or perhaps 6 screws holding the chassis to the body.

They would wouldn't they. Are the wheel hard to remove or should I just not bother?

    Thanks

If I recall correctly, the front wheels are held in place with a screw. I don't remember how the rear wheels are attached, but I think they might just pull off. But the rear axle might be fragile. I'll have to check it out later. I still think that it would be easiest to try to just swap out the chassis.

Here is a pic of a wheel swap that I did on one of my UT F355's. ---> UT Ferrari F355 <---

I was staring at this thread for about 10 minutes trying to figure to figure out if you guys were being serious or not... then I realised it was in the Collectables, Literature, & Models subforum and not the 348/355 Model Specific Discussion.

    Carry on... :D

    All the best,
    Andrew.

That looks good, my problem with a chassis swap is the crappy alloys the HW model has.

Probably should have put 1/18 in the topic line :)

Nah - hopefully it'll confuse someone else too, and then I'll not look like such an idiot. :D

    All the best,

Ahhh, I didn't know one of them was Hotwheels. I believe the molds are very similar if not the same but I'm not exactly sure. I do have 1 Hotwheels F355GTS in black that I built many years ago. If I remember correctly, the UT and Hotwheels version looked almost exactly the same except the details of the HW version was lacking.

I don't blame you for not wanting to use the HW's rims. The UT F355 that I modified actually didn't have any rims on it so I didn't have to remove anything but I did have to fabricate an axle to mount the rear rims.

I'll try to take a look at one of my models tonight to see how the rims are attached.

That makes it much easier. Yes I've got a red GTB from UT and a yellow GTS from HW and will be getting either a yellow or red UT GTS. Haven't decided which color I want yet.
