I've noticed that a lot of people are much more rude and hostile than in the past. . . and not in relation to Ferrari ownership. (I think it may have something to do with the economy.)

Nothing personal. I just shrug it off and enjoy the positive comments I still get.

Yes, that is good advice, I brushed it off...but I still don't know what prompted that, caught me totally of guard.

I growed up in Catskill, NEw YOrk.. and lemme tell youz sometin.. when you have a rusted Chebby Truck in the front Yard next to an old washing machine, the first nice car you see with a horsie on it is gonna be a mustang. ;-)

He was talking to you in "grown up voice". Since the average reading level IS at an 8 year olds.. don't take offense to it. As old "unkle" Bebo once told me: "trees ain't got no branches around here" (hehehe)

I had a girlfriend in high school who had several of her own "Rules of LIfe." One of them was: Every now and then, you run into an @$$h01e.

I actually found that it's a good rule, because it puts encounters with @$$H01es into the same category as a snowstorm, something breaking, or occassionally getting sick. Annoying and inconvenient, but it happens to everyone. Nothing personal.

The trouble I still have, is that somehow @$$h01es know the exact moment when this particular truth is furthest from my mind - and appear out of nowhere to ruin my day. They always manage to catch me off-guard. At least, with snowstorms, you have some time to prepare.

I've never heard it said better!! I had a Schwinn and my sister had a Raleigh...you could almost smell Jaguar DNA coming from that thing. I still remember the brand of tires it had; Vredstein Paragon Roadster Sports...only the English would use that many words to name a tire. And the Schwinn really was like a Caddy!! Those were the days.

I had a few good ones over the past few days....

"What year is that, 1984?" Talking about my 355, LOL :D

I was approached by two police officers who stated, "We'll need to use your car for official police buisiness!". I replied, "Sure, no problem! I'll probably need to use you guys at some point as well!" :D

I was getting food when a guy came up to me offering to trade cars. I jokingly declined, then he offered to throw in his watch. I asked if it was a Patek, and he said no... Michael Kors. LOL! :D

I took the 308 to the PGA store this weekend and when I parked, a couple of the employees were hanging in the parking lot. "Hey could you blow the horn?" Why not? So I did. "Man I LOVE the sound of a Ferrari horn!" Same guy helped me with a new set of irons a little while later.

    The horn?!

If they were impressed with that, they must have been blown away when you started up the engine!

I drove my father's 355 quite a bit from 98-00 (I was 18 at the time) and I got all kinds of stupid comments related to my age and the fact that it actually was my dad's Ferrari haha.

But the one that always stuck with me was:

"Nice car! I heard the maintenance on those things was like $50k a year" I just looked at him and shook my head no.

Some deadpan humor is called for in situations like these:

Without cracking a smile you say, "What? Fifty thou? Are you kidding me? More like sixty-five - if you're lucky!"

Then laugh later as you remember their expressions.

Fueling up my 575 on Saturday, a very good looking woman in a mini van says "Nice car, I'll trade you straight across."
I immediately reply calmly " Sure, I could probably have just as much fun in that minivan as my car." ;)........to which she had a big smile.

    This one falls under funny/friendly.

Earlier this evening I was backing out of my garage for a quick spirited drive...a neighbour a few doors down who just moved in approached me and says "anytime you want to trade cars, I am the new guy a few doors down..."

I had never seen nor spoken to him before, I didn't even know he was new in the neighbourhood, but I told him that was a different way to introduce himself...it was friendly, we both had a good laugh, and I told him he was welcome to come over anytime to visit.
