    I was in Canada this past weekend. On Saturday, my phone switched into a "car mode" on it's own, where when I picked up a call, it automatically went to speakerphone. Also, the home page had a big digital clock readout, and the screen would not rotate.....normally when I hit the "home" button, it brings me to the main page.

    I would shut the phone down, and this would all occur again shortly after booting back up. This happened many times throughout the day. Also, on the download status page, this "car mode" would show up there periodically.

    I called the Samsung help line, and they said there is no car mode like I was describing.

    Anyways, I don't recall it happening on Sunday, nor has it happened today at all.

    Anyone have any insight as to what the heck may have happened? It was like my phone was possessed on Saturday.

    I'm a Verizon sales rep. Looked in our know device issues and didn't see anything specific to your problem. How long have you had the device?

    I've had it for a few months now. Never had any issue like this. Only seemed to happen on Saturday, and hasn't happened since.

    If it had a big Digital Clock, it was "Desk Mode" or something similar.

    Usually these phones have a sensor that detects a magnetic field in a specific spot on the phone. When a magnetic field of the correct orientation is applied, they will usually turn on the Desk mode or Car mode.

    Did you just happen to be next to a strong magnetic field the entire day (long shot, but who knows)?

    The other likelihood is that the sensor just malfunctioned and was detecting a magnetic field where there was no field.

    Take it by any corporate store. If they can't fix it you are well within your manufacture warranty. Seems like a software issue to me which if it can't be fixed willl swap it out.

    I am not aware of having been close to any magnetic fields......

    This only happened on Saturday, and has been back to normal as of Sunday onwards......... Hopefully it stays that way.

    My original issue has never happened again.

    I have a new issue;
    Maybe 1 out of 5 phone calls I make, the person on the other end answers and cannot hear me at all. I have to hang up and redial. Anyone have any insight?

    Now my battery doesn't seem to want to accept a charge.

    I called Verizon. They are sending me a new phone. I am impressed.
