ABSOLUTE stunning car!!~ And with mine being done next week, I KNOW the cost in making these cars as correct as this one..and IMO, it is "underpriced".

Should be closer to $600K USA Funds..after all, it's not like there being made anymore and you can go shop for one at 7 other locations.

Can you imagine, when the worldwide economy comes back in a few years, what these will be selling for then??

 

+ 1. With the restoration yours has received, it is absolutely in a league of its own, and would I would not be surprised if even more than you have stated was the right number...

 

I think the thing a lot of folks are forgetting in this market,

First, there are just not the amount of cars to be bought as it used to be. There are less and less GOOD examples of these cars on the market with each passing day. I think it is becuase the REAL collector and person with knowledge on these cars KNOWS what it takes to make it right. Once they are complete with it, no need to source another one and start all over for the next several years.

When you find the right car, the price is the last you should be concerned with. It need's to be of high standard and a car that makes you happy. ALL the time you waste trying to source the perfect car for the best dollar..it is all a waste of your life. When you see the right one you know it, and if you are playing over a few dollars on it, well then you really should not being looking for a Diamond at the cost of man made Crystal Gem stones.

One day, you will sit back and say...I wasted all this time, should have, could have, would have..

JUST do it!

With all do respect Roy, Since you drive these cars that you're selling.......why not NOT drive this car since you and Joe feel this is one of the best restos and sell this upon completion while asking the 600k-700k+ mark?
How much and when was the last lp400, fresh from restoration, sold?
I am not saying drive 100 or 200 miles is going to take value away but undriven is more appealing.

 

Very good question. I can't speak for the one Joe has for sale, I dont even know who owns it, nor if it has been driven or not. I can tell you that just about 99.8% of the buyer's for this type vehicle at this price point WILL most likely only drive them in and out of a trailer and on and off the showing grounds. That is of course up to the buyer/owner of ANY car.

NOW, for me, you know it is totaly different. My LP400 is completed with some final tweaking being done as we speak. I am flying in on Wednesday next week to spend the day going over the car and making sure it is right. The major check of this vehicle is a 400 mile round trip with it on Thursday, MY BREAK in style.

If it's shake down cruise goes well and the weather permits, I PLAN on driving it the 1200 miles plus from Gilroy, CA all the way back to Seattle. It is for all purpose a BRAND NEW car, so it will not be totaly impressive to me till it clicks about 5K miles and breaks in ready to really perform. I plan to get as many of those break in miles on it prior to the start of our winter season up here.

I am know for driving my cars in all types of weather, even with snow tires on them. This car however I WILL not be operating in the snow and winter conditions, not for lack of trying, but for lack of a sutible winter rated tires to fit the car properly. I am sure some will say OMG, there goes the value on this beautiful LP400, but SO WHAT, it is my car, my money and I can do as I wish with it...if someone does not like me doing that..BUY IT from me..but it wont be cheap. I dont think I would let it go for under $800K. WHY, dont need the money and I dont think I could wait another 5 years to re-produce anohter one. It is a car, not a GOD and I will enjoy it to it's fullest potential, as it was built for...a toy for men, not a piece of art work to goggle over it in a climate controlled art room. I can gurantee you one thing, in 5K miles plus, it may have a road chip here and there, a little wear on the seat, need new tires..BUT it will be the best performance LP400 out there, HANDS down and I will have smiles from ear to ear having got it there.

FYI, the snow tires for my 2010 LP670-4SV came in last week and will be mounted prior to October 1st 2011. It is approaching 25K miles and is stronger and better then ever with it's orginal clutch still perfroming flawlessley. Last weekend had a nice 800 plus mile trip from Seattle to Bend Oregon and back, not a hitch. Till this date all the car has needed is fluids, filters, tires and ONE headlight that went out, show me a Garage Queen with that kind of service history.

If I could find a way, I would drive to my own funeral!!

Already sold, and I dont have another LP400 for sale at the present minute, although I have several clients looking.

 

Well, there you go, what less then 48 hours and it is gone at the asking price of $525,000.00 with no hesitation...I still think the car was under priced and would have easily been gone at the $600K mark...

AFTER all, it is the FIRST of a legendary line of COuntach, less made then the Miura and a car that started it all..thank you for the men of those days that took a chance!


Maybe I should be careful saying $800K for mine?

I hate to laugh at this but I LOVE IT!!!! Tim Meseke is my DAD!!! I can tell you abit about it...

last we heard it was back overseas in europe (Because they didn't want to bring back to DOT Code)
It was a Countach Targa Top Red /w the HUGE WING and Tan Interior and a Full out Alpine sound system and of course a Motorola phone (I do believe the rims were silver thou) Now on to the story, My sister was just born yesterday and I was 3, we were on our way out to California for a vacation or something and this place called Santa Fe Audio (A Car Stereo Installer) was having a contest to win the Countach... "In 25 words or less describe how alpine brings sound quality to your car." My dad being a DJ *dances, parties things like that* Compared sound to food, "Delivering Crisp Bass, Tangy Mid-range, and Sweet Highs, Savor the Alpine Touch" is what he ended with... So he won the lambo and we kept it for a year until we just couldn't anymore BUT during that time we showed it and of course played with it, I have Pictures of me when i was 3 standing in the seat holding the steering wheel SO now on to the bad part of the story, The car had an issue where the dealer who brought it into the states did not bring it up to DOT Spec and the DOT wanted to repo it from my dad to go after this guy... In the end we kept it for a year i believe and then sold it back to alpine who shipped it back to Europe so they didn't have to pay DOT to convert it, and i believe its still there from what ive heard. NOW This is my account not my dads he was busy and i couldnt get ahold of him to confirm some thing so ill let you know if something is wrong or different, I can tell you it WAS the 1986 Autoweek August "The Red Tape Countach" and we do have pics/videos ill try to convert and get to you all... for the time being here is the proof I can Give...
