Do anything we can to get tazandjan back :)

I love the forum but hate that some people just take off. Not sure there is anything we can do about that but this is FChat not 4chan.

I was messaging Rob last month to see if we could get him classified as a consultant and he ended up being gone for good. :( Brian Crall has also absconded to other pastures. Two big losses in just a couple of months.

It seems like there are already people who act as ambassadors for a lot of subforums (e.g. Uro, Jedi) but it's a good idea to expand upon.

NNO has a good point. I've posted very little, and often wish to ask a question, but well realize that some folks on this site like to " eat their young" so to speak. So, rather than deal with the inevitable attack [ as i expect after this posting ] , it's easier to just read and keep my mouth shut. This issue is not a resolvable issue as there will always be a few that , despite our common ferrari interests, will find a reason to attack others. so be it. thicken the skin and post is probably the advice I would offer and don't follow myself.
rob does a great job " babysitting" this site and what a remarkable source of talent that follow this site. On that note, I'll await the assault .
ps I think embassador and ambassador both work rather nicely -it's more about the message - like it really matters how you spell it !

I would fix/change the Javascript image loader in the ferrari-ads, and where ever else it's being used.

The image doesn't need to take the entire screen; the auto resizing is also very annoying when going through multiple images, it can still be nested with javascript so you could have smooth fades/loads between the images, just has to be fixed.

In regards to pictures, I'd like to be able to link to a specific picture that I have posted before here on Fchat, instead of having to re-upload it if I'm posting it to another thread/subforum.

Google Chrome's spell check sucks. I don't know why.. the gmail spell check is much better.. you'd think they'd be the same??

just clicked on a link to the harbor freight site, and got the viglink hang up, didn´t think it would go through but after over 20 seconds it did. Just FYI. No virus scanner here, no IE toolbars installed, just Windows 7 with up to date IE.

When I'm in FerrariAds, if I click on a member's username, it doesn't take me to their profile, rather it takes me to a list of their current auctions. If I click on the member's username while looking at said list, it just refreshes (takes me to the same list). If I go into one of said user's ads, there are options to contact the member via PM or e-mail through the site - but still no option to view the member's profile. As far as I can see, I would have to go to the directory in order to get to the member's profile. Surely there's an easier way.

    FerrariAds is separate from FerrariChat.

    If in FerrariAds:
    Copy name
Paste to Search > Members, etc.

    There is, it's a 2 or 3 steps. Let's use JackMB1 for an example.

First, click their username in either the ad or the ad lists
    Image Unavailable, Please Login

Then, click the red underlined part and it takes you to the profile:

I think that depends on how you view the site. For some, the attach tags will only work if your browser is pointed to www.ferrarichat.com, not just ferrarichat.com or one of the other alternate sites.

Correct, your logged in URL needs to match exactly what user did in attach. If they just uploaded with manage attachments without playing with attach tag it will view for everyone.

Ah-ha!..... That explains it! - "Most" images display just fine, but there's a few (Neurobeaker seems to be a particular culprit!) that just show me the "?" icon.

Very good - I thought it was some kind of format issue.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Is anyone else having the same technical problem running fchat that I am?

Every web page I go to in fchat never fully finishes loading.
In firefox, I get a "waiting for cdn.viglink.com..." message at the bottom for the status.

I can click on different forums and different threads, but nothing happens when I click on the Search menu link (near the top of the fchat page).
My hunch is this is a link that isn't fully built yet because of the endless loop trying to load the web page.

I tried running fchat in MS IE but same problem. The page loading symbol continues to run. MS IE doesn't give a stats reason why.

Any thoughts on how to get around it?

If you switch to Google Chrome it's built in.

Spell check used to be enabled here on FerrariChat, but Rob disabled it.

Interesting... why? Did it slow things down or something?

Rob Lay doesn't need to check his spelling. He makes Chuck Norris do it.

the built in software spell check was more of a pain. it has been so many years I don't remember exactly, maybe suggesting and correcting to words you didn't want.

I have never understood why people don't copy over to Word or a blank email to spell check, at least then you have a copy if something happens on submit.

Agree. These days, Chrome and I believe Firefox both have integrated spell
checking for any site form you fill in. Doesn't even cross my mind anymore....
