Sorry, I meant the car I had for sale (1120086) is already sold, and it went for $400k. The $535k ask car is 1120062 in Europe (no affiliation) which may still be available.

    Thanks for sharing.

FWIW your dad's car was 1120134, not to be confused with the ex-Rod Stewart car (with the gold wheels) which is 1120262.

I think your dad was very lucky to sell the car before the authorities caught up with it. At some point after your dad's ownership, a stolen car report was filed, and the car ended up in Germany now wearing black paint.

#1120134, oh my god, what a mess!

At the first glimpse, i thought it was a kit.

  8. Sure no one would do that to a Countach now. It was 1986. 55 mph limits. Remember the fashion? The wild customization was rampant. Boxed rockers, gold BBS wheels, Greenwood kits, red lights under the dash. Miami Vice days. I remember some seriously modified 930, Corvette, and BMW's. The more expensive the car, the less likely it stayed stock if it was used in a social scene capacity.

I had called for that car about 6 years back, it was selling for Euro 65,000 - thanks to Glen's site I saw the dubious history and did not follow through. The new owner posted here once - better keep it hidden .....

Despite the "mods" that car still looks low and mean. What a thrill it must have been be to win something like that.

GREAT STORY, don't ruin it by nit-picking all the bastardizations.

How long did you have to "wait" ?

(the longer you wait, the better it is, some say).

Makes you wonder why Lambo doesn't just reproduce the early Countach exactly except for maybe better cooling fans and an electronic ignition.
