I think the pic shown is more extreme than typical. You've mentioned that you intend to store in a controlled environment with limited driving; it seems unlikely that amount of fading would occur under such storage conditions.

Also, alcantara and leather were not the only interior options. A third, actually the standard configuration, was "Tech Fabric".

Well I called to make an offer on the car and here's the story hence the price...

During delivery the delivery team busted up the front bumper and the rocker panels had to all be replaced and repainted, then about a year ago it was rear ended. So two nice little car faxes show up on this car with about 50K in repairs. Hence the competitive pricing. I think this one will probably sit around into the sub 165K range as that is A LOT of baggage for one ride.

Good luck to the next taker, it almost found a home...

I guess what ever you're willing to pay for it... It would probably make a sweet track car! Honestly it's priced where it is based on the history as many have mentioned you don't see a sub 200K 2009 Scud anywhere right now.

Thanks for the info. IMO, dealerships should be required to note upfront on thier ads whether or not the car has a clean carfax. I understand the reason they don't want to, but many/most exotic shoppers won't even consider a storied car regardless of what happened, and it'd not only save a lot of hassle, but the lower prices without upfront disclaimers of history paint an inaccurate picture of where market asking prices really are.

A read ended F430 is worth close to 0 in my opinion.

The rear of the F430 has barely any protection, so any hit is going to bang transmission, clutch, engine. A big bang while these things are running might be catastrophic on the short term. There are many aluminum pieces not designed to resist accidents, whose purpose is functionality of suspension and aero components, not tolerance to impacts.

I would consider a car with front damage, but rear damage in these cars is on another league.

To the dealers credit, he was up front with me when I started asking questions so while they don't have in on print I do believe that this dealership to be very credible and stand behind their sale. Also, it's worth noting the car is actually on consignment. He rattled off the numbers I was looking for, compression good, clutch at 14%, CCBs good to go, so for the right purchaser that may never sell it again it could be a decent value.

But to the other poster here, a rear end on this car to replace the entire bumper, diffusor, rear tray, all mounts and a bunch of other things makes me nervous.

I would rather pay more money or a premium for a no stories car, rather than save money on a car that has been in an accident.
Not to change the topic, but there is a very low priced CS in Canada, in Quebec that is storied. IIRC, it has been for sale for over 1 year.
There are so many great examples of non story 430 Scuderias.

+1 on the dealer being upfront, I really respect the honesty and the guys at Ferrari of Seattle are good people (Craig knows F cars), They could be like Scottsdale (search threads and you will know if you dont already...) and not even mention the damage on the car and still try to sell it for a premium, that just makes my blood boil.

If a buyer is going to track the car and use it hard and drive the snot out of it, maybe the repairs to them are no big deal as long as it was repaired properly. I would expect this car to sell for at least $20,000-$30,000 less if not more than a no stories scuderia. It is just the hit you take when a car like this gets banged up.

Really? That has to be the oddest reason for buying a $200k car or not...why not just put a new dash leather/alcantara on it in 10+ years down the road when/if needed? There are lots of material differences between a Scud and 430...this has to be the pettiest reason to prefer one over another...

The fading you see is from extreme sun exposure. All the 360 Challenge cars (including mine) had it after 2 years. It is ugly. I ALWAYS use a sunshade with my Stradale when I park it. One of these days I will even have a custom dash cover made to use on long sunny drives.

That CS in the pic is from the NW where there is limited sun rays. Though I suppose it wouldn't take much to fade if a car sat out for extended periods of time even with the most modest sun light. I use a sunshade to protect my leather dashboard but hadn't thought of a custom dashboard cover. Excellent idea!

When I park my 430, I use a sun shade, a steering wheel cover, seat covers, a ferrari stormproof car cover and another generic refelctive car cover. I know...Its excessive....keeps the cabin cool despite 36 degrees heat.

I do understand what you are saying. It is an odd reason to not want a car, but I am looking at long term ownership, and I'm concerned with having to replace it every X amount of years. I could see it being a fairly expensive repair. With the Scuderia being fairly low production run will I be able to find a replacement in 30 years? I'm very meticulous about my vehicles, mechanically and aesthetically. It's just something that would bother me.

Perhaps the suggestion that StokPro made about a custom dash pad for UV protection will work.

I think the sun will be your biggest enemy for keeping the interior perfect, leather or alcantara.

For long term ownership just buy the car you prefer. 25 years of wishing you had purchased something else will drive you insane!

In 25 years getting fuel might be your biggest headache, forget interior worries!

Haha, very true. I hope there will still be a supply of gasoline for us "old heads" who still will be collecting and driving these cars in 30 years.

I tend to keep cars that I feel passion towards for a long time, I still have the 67 Corvette that my dad and I restored to be my first car, that was 20 years ago and I still love it. So I can easily see myself keeping a 430 for my entire life. I'm going to do my best to keep my 997, but I think I'm going to have to compromise with my wife, not sure if she'll be ok with 3 rarely driven sports cars. :)

yes Rob!! but which one?? theres so many scuds to choose.

the turbo S was one hell of a lot of fun doing 2400 miles malibu-sundance-jackson and back, and remember you told me the scud would be a disaster for that run.... especially on all the dirt i did. and it would a been.

    heres a report for you:

I had two people looking for Scuderias and they already bought their cars.

I have a lead on a pristine Black 2009 Scuderia with Yellow calipers, Alcantara package, Alcantara wheel arches covers, ipod adapter, Titanium grey wheels, 861 miles, ZFFKW64A690168009. If the car is clean (no histories) and passes a PPI, I think it is the best deal for the money in the country.

I've been reading the F430 / Scud threads for a while now as I research for my Scud purchase. Just about every thread has been an eye opener and very helpful (I try to ignore the personal banter).

And because of the threads and posts I think I have a pretty good handle on all the available options / configurations...except for Alcantara Wheel Arch Covers. WHAT ARE THESE? And if anyone has a pic of it, please post.

As for my situation...Mid summer I was hell bent on buying an F430 coupe; did all the research and learning (a ton on F-Chat). But then I did notice Scud pricing coming down (and also noted F430 pricing coming down as well). So I went back to square one and started the research process again for the Scud; thinking that if I'm patient, I'll find one in my original "F430 budget range".

Scuds have come down in price, and will continue to do so. At what rate, who really knows 'cause there are too many factors. But this seems to be the case for 99% of the exotic car market, the 1% exception being the truly collectibles and untouchables (untouchable from my budget perspective, anyhow).

The question I have is do sellers (particularly dealerships) adjust their prices upwards? Fall/winter are typically slow months, although perhaps not so much in CA. And because of this, sellers may lower their asking prices. However if a vehicle hasn't sold, do sellers retain the low asking price as they roll into spring/summer, or do they adjust them upwards even though the car is now technically 6 months older?

    Comments?

    - DL
