The highlights of the year for me are always Monaco, Spa, and Suzuka. Who can forget Zo's great pass at 130R in '06. This turn is no doubt one of the widowmakers. With tires being what they are this year, this should be a great race. RB7 was made for this track so I'm not so much interesting in what they are doing, but the fight between Mclaren and The Magician should be fantastic. We are kindred spirits mate! Eau Rouge and 130R are my 2 favorite corners. Suzuka is epic...I'm glad to see it more often in F1 these days (as opposed to Fuji, which wasn't a bad track). I'm still stunned by the fact that F1 cars can take 130R (named for its 130 meter radius) near flat out. That corner has claimed many, many victims across the whole racing spectrum. Just brilliant stuff: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_YB9zBMqhA[/ame] A 1:32 is ridiculously quick!
Well, Michael is considered in Japan (and everywhere else) to be the Suzuka master. Even his qualy lap last year was incredibly precise, just the car was a dog.
Excellent videos, though i'm not impressed with Alonso's overtaking in 2005. The Renault was a class of it's own, while the Ferrari was probably the worst in modern times.
So glad that Vettel's championship will be decided at a proper and historic circuit like Suzuka (rather than Singapore). Thank you Jenson Button! ....and, while we reminisce on great races at Suzuka, let us not forget Kimi's epic win in 2005 from 17th on the grid.
Sadly, like so many corners in F1 now, the 130R is no longer the major challenge it once was as the cars are so glued to ground by their aero dynamics. Even back in Schumacher's Ferrari days I was never that impressed by the 130R at Suzuka TBH, the thing that used to mesmerise Me was Schumacher's direction changes through turns 3 to 6 climbing up the hill, the car got thrown side to side and it just gripped!.
I STILL have that one on my DVR That was great...I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Yes some great "classic" footage for sure. I will never forget: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSu5od-6YA4[/ame]
