That price is about right (just a tad high, but the miles are very low-but not "too" low) for asking on a car like that from what I've seen- assuming that it had the "major" done and documented within the last year or 2. Not sure I agree that that color combo is the "best" as the ad proclaims though. 8k miles is great, that car's been used lightly, but used which should keep it in good working order by not sitting. Low but not too low.

Look to be a clean car to me, the price is right for up to date service and new clutch.

A bit high, esp for that color combo. I would try to get them well under $90k, perhaps even $85k if the car continues to sit....

Yeah, the price seems a bit high to me. I would expect something less than $90K for this one. Too bad it doesn't have the Challenge grill at the back. There are no pictures of the interior -- I can't see if it has Daytona seats or whether or not the blue leather looks good.

If you are considering this car, we could do a ppi on it if you would like. Get a ppi on any ferrari, especially with the spiders due to the vent valves for the gas tanks usually crack ($200/vent) along with other common issues (not major just wear and tear). Trans mount, engine mounts, check cam timing, cam seal leaks, etc.

    Ciao,
    Jon

I disagree. I think $96K is too high for an '02, especially when we can't see what options it has and it's perhaps not the best color combo. I could have bought desirable '02 Spiders at the $91K mark when I was looking for mine.

I think it is a little high but one thing to keep in mind is that it is close to the house. That means no shipping cost and you can also check out the records at the place where it is serviced in person. Shipping can easily run $1k depending on where it is coming from and speaking to the people that work on it can be priceless. I was looking at one a few months ago and the service center told me to keep looking. A PPI is good but the guys that have had it apart and know the car is much better.

whats wrong with the color combo? Also, arent you the one that purchased a car and was missing keys and books or something? perhaps this car is complete and all service is up to date?

$96K could be a little high but its not far off. On another note, why do existing owners try to devalue their cars?

Before buying the one that I ultimately purchased (and yes, you're right, the dealer did stiff me on manuals and keys) I had a deal on a Silver/Black '02 with Daytona's, Challenge grill, 430 wheels, 11K miles, and full service history (including a major only 2 or 3 months earlier) for $91K. Thus, I think $96K is too high for the car in question.

I personally don't care for the colour combo on this vehicle as I tend not to like how the blue leather interiors look. However, I'm the first to admit that each and every one of us should choose whatever we like.

so $5K more is a problem? I will agree that this is the asking price and there is probably some room, just think it is odd how everyone attacks the price.

The interior is not blue. It's a misprint, unless blue is a very dark blue and I didn't notice. As everyone here has said, I think that the asking price is slightly high at 96k. But maybe he's willing to move down to $90k. That's not a far stretch.

My preference would be to get a silver/red or silver/black. Actually, do they make a silver 02 or 03? All the ones I've seen are the darker titanium color. I came across a few silvers that were newer only.

Well there is your answer the the unasked question; Your comment "My preference would be to get a silver/red or silver/black." means it is not your color preference. There are plenty of 360/430s in every color combo. I recommending to be patient and wait for the exact specifications you want. Anything less is letting yourself down.

PS: 96K is too much for the color / year unless your heart is behind it.

Ultimately, I was pleased when my silver/black deal fell through (the car was involved in an accident a day or two after we'd concluded the deal). My heart and eyes always came back to a TDF/tan one that I'd spotted right at the very beginning of my search which was (to my eyes) drop-dead gorgeous. This was the one I bought in the end. It was really a great shame that my purchase was spoiled by the dealer's lack of integrity re. manuals and keys, but I did nevertheless get a great car at a great price.

In other words, you should hold out for the combo that appeals to you as per Trent's suggestions. BTW, I looked at the dealer's web site and it sure as heck looks like a blue interior to me.

Figure out exactly what color combo you want and the necessary options and start looking from there. This car is no steal by any means and it sounds like you would prefer another color. Keep looking. Be patient. Your car will come along. It took many months before I found mine.

    Things you might consider:

    - Have the timing belts been replaced? Standard 5k service (mentioned in the ad) does not require a belt change. Ferrari recommends a belt change (for the 360) at 30k miles or 3 years, whichever comes first. (BTW: The three year recommendation is a contentious issue here.)

    - Have the tires been replaced? If not, there's a good chance that they have dry-rot, even if sufficient tread remains

    - Why was the clutch replaced?

    - The color is your choice, however, this combo is not likely to help you if you decide to sell. I found it odd that no shots of the interior were provided.

    - Does the car have all keys, FOBs, manuals, tools (including the often pilfered flashlight)?

    - Did the car receive scheduled fluid changes (including coolant and gearbox oil), along with brake and clutch bleeds, etc.

    - Were campaign/recall items completed?

    - Does the CarFax indicate anything noteworthy?

Getting a pre-sale inspection is a good idea. However, I had a pre-sale performed by an authorized Ferrari dealer ($650), and I was amazed at what they did not do. Consider asking for a list of what will be checked. BTW: When I finally got around to needing my owner's manual, I found it was missing. All the other manuals were there (radio, Nav, etc.) but not the owner's manual.

BTW: The ad says 6-Speed manual; I believe you stated F1.

So what, if he can get it cheaper so be it, you think every asking price is fair. Clutch at 8k for a stick, seriously?

    Matty,

Not sure what you mean? Are you comparing this to the one I got my ppi on?

That one was asking $89990. Had less options?

The silver with black at thesportscarcompany.com was the one, that's where I would start.

    Thanks.

One big consideration here is that buying from a dealer I would have to pay taxes vs. buying from a private party. I just talked to the people out there in La Jolla. Based on a quick convo with them, I don't think they have much wiggle room in the price. If you include taxes into the equation the one at La Jolla would cost me about $11k-13k more.

That's about what I paid for my '02 F1 spider two years ago, some differences, mine didn't have factory sheilds and had 40% wear on the clutch. Still, I think this is high. If not, it's nice that 360's are holding their value but there are 430 coupes out there within reasonable sight of this, $115-120k. Much, much more car for just 20% more. I love a 360, don't get me wrong. But I'd bargain like crazy on this car. I don't like throwing numbers around. What I'd pay IMHO has nothing to do with what someone else might. I"m just saying at that price point, I really think you're better off going 430 now.

Not pay taxes? You pay taxes when you register it in your state regardless, private party or dealer regardless.
