an American icon, built in Canada and going to Saudi Arabia.

    somehow that seems fitting.

From someone who has driven one for 17 years....good riddance!!! They were too slow and small inside. Here's our next squad that I helped design. Cars should arrive anytime now and my squad is first in the changeover!

LOL. I loved these cars. You'd hit a bump in one and the thing wouldn't stop rocking on its springs until an hour after you parked it.

My dad had a white Crown Vic many years ago - I loved driving it as people would move out of the left lane when I was on the parkway thinking I was a cop. Car was a lot of fun to drive and a very comfortable cruiser.

He had a few Grand Marquis and several Town Cars but we both agree, his one Crown Vic was the best of the bunch.

Now he drives a 300 (hemi) and loves the huge power difference but complains about the ride compared to the previous cars he's owned.

I mentioned it, but there's too many unknowns to seriously consider one right now. There's a lot of good ideas involved though!

As a fellow LEO who has driven a few they should be retired. What engine was chosen by your dept or should I ask what package is being offered? I remember reading in a past issue of 'American Police Beat' that the V6 option was being considered, what the heck???

My sister-in-law recently purchased a 2011 Dodge Challenger 392 Inaugural Edition with the 470/470 engine and imho that is the pursuit/engine package that should be standard issue for any and all law enforcement vehicles.

I agree on the aging. The handling leads a lot to be desired, and I drive a truck. And with a cage it's cramped to the wheel. But I feel the taurus feels smaller inside, but I haven't seen the interceptor. Would have been awesome to see Ford build a new version with the 3.7 or 3.5 ecoboost. Both motors are much more powerful and efficient than the 4.6.

Troy if memory serves I read something about the EcoBoost yet I think that was before any final decisions were made ie last year. Either way as to what is offered atleast we know one cannot out run the radio.

The radio almost always wins. But I know alot of officers who have the 'vics and love them, except the lack of power compared to the chargers. Even the impalas have a higher top end... But was not meant to be, will see how the new cars work out. In Florida, the troopers have been slowly switching over to Dodge. So now i have to learn to pay attention to all chargers...lol

Lol I learned my lesson about the Chargers back in '06 when I was pulled over in a completely unmarked white 4-door Charger (small lightbar under the RVM) yet that was before I started my law enforcement career. I would love to own a Tahoe yet only if my dept allowed me to install f/r light bars along with a push bar for EJ's and in the sense that we LEO's are never off-duty.

Yes, the one of the troopers here had a burgandy Grand Marq, luckily my friend was able to inform me before i met him. And I've worked on a marshall's Expedition that had no visible ques outside, unless you saw the strobes in the foglights. Would def want to be unmarked as a officer, so much more fun!
