    Hello
I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct forum or not, but I recently watched the documentary "Senna" which I'm sure all of you have heard of and I REALLY LOVED it.
Do you guys know and would recommend any other documentaries about race car driver, cars, anything related to racing and what not?

    Thanks!

IMO the best one is one you may never see - James Garner did it himself when he owned a Formula 5000 team in 1969-70, called 'The Racing Scene'.

It was on SPEED about 4 years ago, I have not seen it since, and it has never been released, although we hear rumors from time to time saying it might be 'soon'.

I have not seen any others worth a damn.

Thanks for sharing! Looks interesting and will have to look into it.
I knew there weren't many documentaries about racing so I just really want to find the good few that are out there.

The "Driven" series was popular in Europe with Graham Hill and Sir Jackie Stewart both profiled.

Also available as an HD download - It's my "standard" demo for how great the iPad screen looks. Some good stuff.

    Some pretty good suggestions here.

It's not a documentary, but if you bleed red (!) the following "advert" is the now legendary, and often re-posted (sometimes by me!) "Ferrari Shell Circuit" ad.

If you're a member at Vimeo you can also download it; http://vimeo.com/2283022

there's an older one (from the 70s) that follows Mario Andretti and Brian Redman called "Speed Merchants" or something like that, really interesting look at sports car racing back in the day. Speed will play it every so often.

SPEED used to show racing movies - then the ownership changed, I don't think I've seen a movie since then.

There was one called " The Quick And The Dead", and I do not mean the western of the same name.

If I remember, the movie was rather graphic. Showed Ronnie Peterson and Franocis Cevert accidents.

The 1975 film is called One By One and was re-released in '78 after adding the 1977 Tom Pryce accident footage and the subtitle "The Quick And The Dead". It was released again in the 80's under the title Champions Forever: The Formula One Drivers.

Here is the Champions Forever: The Formula One Drivers version...

    Part 2

Hunt up Legends Of Motorsport on YouTube or BitTorrent sites. That was Speedvision's vintage film show. They aired some great stuff from the 50's, 60's and 70's...

Saw it when the producers were trying to get enough funding to make a real release out of it. The showing was at Todd AO studios in Hollywood for the Ferrari Owners Club. The producers gave a talk before and after the movie.

Yep, some good stuff back in the day.

Quick and the Dead I watched on Speed, I enjoyed it but a little morbid.

Frankly, I found the "Senna" documentary disappointing
    on several levels.

Settng aside the topic and deomonizing Prost from the
onset, the footage was basically stock TV on loan from
Bernie who saw a chance to make money on the
hundreds of dozens of hours of footage he owns that's
been garthering dust over the years.

The interviews are disconnected and oftentimes we
hear people taking but we have no idea who they are
or how they're related. On-camera interviews indespersed
with the stock footage would have rounded out the film
but no effort was made in that direction.

Compaired to Billy Corbin-type documentaries ("Cocaine Cowboys",
"The U", etc.) where players from the time are interviewed
in modern time and use of graphics to really round out
a story, "Senna" really fell flat. Too bad, as the subject
    lent itself to great theatre.

"Speed Merchants" is a great documentary by
former IMSA driver Michael Keyser (famous for winning
the 1976 12 Hours of Sebring with Al Holbert). The
footage of the 312PBs at Sebring was worth the admission
alone. Have only seen "Speed Merchants" on TV once
and that was back in the '80s but believe the DVD is
available on the Internet or at race venues.

"Truth in 24" likewise is a masterpiece done by NFL
Films hired by Audi. Perhaps the best of it's kind and a stunning
    achievement.

There's a similar one from the same era called "Once Upon a Wheel", hosted by Paul Newman. it's fairly cheesy, and very much "of its time", but worth a look to remember what things were like in the late 60s and early 70s. It's on DVD.

    Jack.

The speed merchants is a great movie about the hay day of real racing with people like Mario Andretti and Paul Newman.
    Great movie
