I was told that the car went to Continental for all campaigns, have a flash taken of the clutch and brake ware, and service. I was told that 4 new tires were put on the car - They looked brand new to me. Was told there was a lot of CF replace due to fading - They had replaced two of the small panels in the engine compartment and something else, but I can't remember what it was. The strange thing was the rest of the engine compartment looked really bad next to the replacements. I asked for a copy of the service before I went to look at the car, but they never got it to me. Really didn't think much about it because the car has one month of warranty left and I wouldn't buy the car without the report. When I was checking the car out Danny gave me a copy of the service that was done. The total was $700 and some change (I think). There wasn't a charge for the tires and CF replacements because they were done under warranty. So I haven't a clue how much the work would have totaled up.

This would have been my first Ferrari so most of you know the buildup of excitement that I was dealing with.

The link that Alxlee posted is the car we are talking about.

Corsa tires and the engine CF panels are on recall items.

I can understand your emotional actions towards this purchase.....especially a Scuderia as a first F-car.

I have purchased 3 Ferrari's in the US since 2009....a 550 Barchetta from an Authorized Dealer in '09, a 575M 6 Speed manual from a non Ferrari dealer in '10 and a 575M F1 from a Ferrari dealer in Spring of 2011.

Before I even started to talk prices, I asked for ALL service history on these vehicles.
Once I decided that I wanted to move forward, I had PPI's done on these cars.
Once the PPI's were done, I started negotiating the price on these cars.
Once we came to an agreement, I sent them a deposit.
I then drove down to pick up the Barchetta, with an enclosed car trailer......more for the experience. I test drove the car when I got there and finished paying for it.(I was fairly certain I was going to buy this car after all my due diligence).

I flew down to Dallas to pick up my 575M in 2010, test drove & looked over the car, paid for it and drove it back to Calgary.....again for the experience.

The 3rd car....the 05 575M F1...... I flew down, drove it, checked it over and requested a couple of minor things be attended to.....finished paying for it when they addressed these issues and then had it delivered from New York to Calgary by enclosed trailer.

Don't be afraid to be nice, confident and firm with any dealer or private party seller.
If there is information that you have asked for, and it is not being supplied to you, I would not proceed......that is just me.

Any time I have sold one of my sports cars, I have provided complete service history and all information that was requested by a potential, qualified buyer.

FYI, I have had some dealers in the US not take me seriously, or be unwilling to supply information. If they are selling a car, and I am looking at buying it; I have a right to know everything that there is available to know about it. If these dealers choose not to provide the info, it is their loss and I move on to the next vehicle that I am interested in.

Buying a Ferrari should be a pleasurable experience!
Don't let it discourage you and I hope you find your perfect Scuderia. ;)

I believe that there is Karma and you were not meant to have it for a better one will turn up.
Don't feel bad about the long drive....it was meant to happen because you now are so more learned when it comes to your future purchase.

    Cheers
    Rob.

Well, Im very sorry to hear about your experience with this particular dealership. On the bright side, it was a probably a good thing that you didn't buy a car with 35k, worth of repairs. I'm also in the market for a 430, maybe even possibly a scuderia if the price is right.
People on this forum seem to be very knowledgeable and very helpful.

Gentlemen new to this forum, and yes my first F car. My personal experience past and present with EMM has been always first class and professional. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I had a somewhat similar experience with EurocarOc (in Orange County California).

The best revenge is simply to not give them any business, ever, and I buy a car every year. I am also in the service business and lots of clients and collegues know I like exotic cars and ask me for referrals to good dealers quite regularly. I have referred dozens of clients to dealers I have had good experience iwth and they have bought Ferrari's, Bentleys, Lambos etc from those folks. When I have been asked about particular dealers I have given them my two cents. You can imagine that nobody who has ever asked me has been referred to ExoticarOC. That is about all you can do from such a bad experience IMO. Talk with your feet and share your opinion and experience and let others decide for themselves.

Keep in mind that not all the repairs we read about here are covered by the extended warranty.

Congratulations on your new car. Looks a beauty.

I presume it's this one now marked "sold".....http://www.exoticmotorsmidwest.com/exotic-motorcars/2008-ferrari-f430-scuderia-black-over-red-em-160113/

You'll have to forgive us FChat types we're always a little suspicious of those with minimal post count that show up all of a sudden to defend the indefensible. :)

Now you gotta fill in your profile and introduce yourself properly with some high quality photographs of that beautiful car in separate thread all of your own.

Congrats! Wonder why the owner and sales guy copped such a tude with the other guy when they ended up selling it to you anyway? These guys don't realize that crappy behavior will get broadcast for the world to see and will lose some biz in the process. Who needs that when there are plenty of others who will EARN the business.
