    I got on Apple's website right as it was posted...none of the media had picked up the story yet.

    Drudge linked to it about five minutes later.

    I was taken aback more than I thought I would be. Knew he was close to death, but somehow it always comes as a shock...

    RIP.

    I remember reading back int he 80's after he cashed out of apple and was starting NeXT, that he wore italian suits and bought a ferrari... Don't know if I buy that profile..

    I never met him but my biz partner has been a senior exec at Apple and he said he drove a mini van at one time for a few years. No one there ever heard anything about him ever owning a ferrari, this is from what little I know about him.

    I do remember a green car he wanted to develop back in the day but put it on the shelf for more important things. I'm serious, he was going to call it the iCar.

    He HATED fast fuel guzzling cars.

    Have met him and he was mostly involved with Mercedes cars over the years. Even late in life, he was getting chauffer'd around in a black Mbz S550. Most people are familiar with his silver SL55 and before that he drove a silver S500 coupe. He was not a slow driver, either ;)
    He actually gave Mbz feedback repeatedly on what was wrong with their cars and their response was interesting but I digress. And no, he's not an Fchat member.

    Sad, sad day.
