I wonder if that's the beginning of the end of the Hamilton<->McLaren connection. I always thought he'd stay with the team that made him what he is forever. Nowadays, I'm not so sure.

F1 is as fickle a sport and business as they come. A great 2012 season and he'll be bending them over for another great contract 2013+ or maybe even RB.

I still don't see him leaving McLaren but he had better get it together.

It is time for lewis to grow up and quit wrecking cars that could finish races. Had he done this this year, he would currently be leading Button in the points (and probably alonso.)

+1 he himself has thrown a good season aside with poor headwork. Im a JB fan but Im under no illusion of who is actually faster in terms of pure speed.

I've wondered if Lewis became a bit too american with some of his attitude for McLaren's liking.

True. Tis an odd season for McHam and I've never been a fan from day one, but he is one hellishly quick driver. Love to see what he'd do in this year's RB.

    ..and his dad.

He'd probably have another title by now if they were both still involved in LH's career.

"Jenson Button will end his Formula 1 career as a McLaren driver after signing one of the longest and most lucrative contracts in the sport. Button, 31, is understood to have committed himself for at least another four years in a deal worth up to £50m. "

Yep. Combo of no Ron at every race and No Dad as a manager = Hamilton beleiving his own press... old press. The comments about the stewards coming down on him becuase he is black etc... Ron & his father would never have let him say that.

Its so dangerous when you are surrounded by managers and advisors that you pay... you will not get honest feedback. He needs go to back to his Dad ... and work harder at driving and less at being a star.

Everybody leaves and we are all our own worst enemy.
Lewis is now a short termer at McLaren.

I'm quite fond of Hamilton, but this is an excellent post. Some things that I simply hadn't considered.

Of course he's not getting any younger, is he? Maybe have him back and replace Whitmarsh with a more tenable transition guy.

    +1 :)

Seems many here were blaming his "demeanor" on his dad being his manager and that he needed "professional" management; IIRC, he fired dad and hired someone from IMG (?) and things have gotten worse.

He needs help, and maybe he should kiss and makeup with dad. [I dunno how close they are these days?]

As for Ron -v- Martin, again, I dunno - Certainly he *was* Rons boy, but even that seems to have dimmed recently - Jenson is the new #1 and maybe Lewis will be moving on sooner than expected.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Am I missing something? I don't see any "fallout" in the article.
