What has gone wrong now? My car started hesitating when i press the pedal between 1k to 3k..it will be fine if i floor it however. Also, there is a very distinctive smell of Sulfur when im at a red light or in traffic.

    Any ideas?

A sulphur smell is usually associated with the catalyst.

I am not a mechanic, but I will hazard a guess that you have an electronic sensor somewhere that is not working correctly. Should be a no brainer for the techs to diagnose.

assuming you're not getting a CEL, the stuttering could just be the ECU having a brain fart. that happened to me, the dealer told me to do a couple of full throttle blasts and that usually sorts it out.

Can't help on the sulphur issue; possibly cat related.

I'd schedule a service just in case.

The sulphur smell is from the catalytic converter(s). You'll usually get that smell if the car is over-fueling for some reason. I would suspect a Mass Air Flow problem. The rich condition will cause your sputter as well.

    Thanks!

I will book it for service. But what if i buy the Fabspeed Cat by pass? Will that 'by pass' the issue ?

It will get rid of the smell, but you'll still have the stuttering issue.

Don't go in for a service per say.

Go in for a warranty claim under the extended emission coverage provided by the new car warranty.

Could also be an O2 sensor. Failure could lead to a rich running condition that will quickly destroy the cats. Strange thing is no CEL. Don't touch the system until you have taken it in, you would run the risk of Porsche claiming you altered the system and denying the claim.

Take it in ASAP as a potential warranty claim. Manufacturers have to warranty the emissions system for 10 years/80,000 miles regardless of the number of owners.

This was the only real issue with my '03 ML500. Took it in with 78,000 miles, four cats (and $4000+ in warranty repairs), I spent zero out of pocket.

Nothing will be covered under the emissions warranty unless a cat fails and throws a check engine light. At least here in the US. Is the car in Chicago or France?
