My dad has a friend that got pulled over in his Ferrari and the cop tried to handcuff him. My guess is he was driving like a bat outta hell :p

As a LEO I most likely would not ticket for no front plate unless the driver had been given numerous warnings in the past showing habitual conduct. Having a bad attitude and loud mouth could very easily change my outlook though. I must add that as a fellow Ferrari enthusiast I understand owners not wanting to drill holes in their bumpers and on that I must put the blame on Ferrari for not pre-drilling the holes at the factory for US bound cars.

P 4/5 being a "special case" though for me aswell.

Generally not good. I haven't been pulled over for quite a while. The last time was for no front plate on the Mondial. I ran them around for over 9 months before it was done. The fine was $140, and I suspect I cost them at least 10k. I did let the office know that it wasn't cost effective to pull that crap, but he didn't believe me and had to shown the light.

It's been over 10 years since I got pulled over for speeding. Depending on the LEO's attitude, I can either be very polite, or if he's a jerk, I can deal with them accordingly. They think they hold all the cards, but the reality is that they generally don't, if you know the law. Most of the California Highway Patrol are decent guys, but they have a few jerks.

I used to get pulled over all the time by Radar Instructor for Balto. Co. Police Bob Speed. He worked the shift near my office, had pizza with him on occasion at lunch. He knew my route from home to work and was like Tom & Jerry. I once said "Bob we just had lunch together how about cutting me a break?" His reply, "I won't hold that against you" This guy was cold, no nonsense, by the book and then some. While waiting in court for one of my tickets from him the case before me he had chased a little kid riding on his bike without a helmet. Terrified the kid rode home crying into his mom's arms. Wrote him a citation. Finally sold that first 308 and he was one of the reasons. Now I live in a different town and hope he is retired.

Seems like it's 50/50 for pulling over and it goes good or bad. At this point no way can I put a front plate on my car it would look so out of place, hopefully my good luck lasts

Turns out when I got pulled over it got tons of photos from randoms here is another one.

We don't have front plates in Louisiana. Didn't have them in Florida either when I lived there.

No ticket or even a mention of not having a front license plate since I picked up the Miata on Monday and I have encountered about 10 other officers who were in clear view yet then again I always wave aswell as ready to produce documentation that shows my registration process has yet to be completed, completely legal. Oh and I realize that not all states require a front license plate and if my assumption is correct the OP must live in a state that does require one, next question?

Simply put abide by your state laws and you will not have any issue's, people who complain about law enforcement officers who are just doing their job need a reality check because we do not care if you are driving a Prius or Ferrari, the law is the law.

Pistol whipped and handcuffed when swore at them and got all "COPS" on em'...

Just kidding. :) No problems so far with the local guys. (knock on wood) Had one stop in the street in front of the house when the 360 was warming up last fall and ask me how much they are. Nice guy. Told me to "just remember to stop when you see the lights". I responded "I obey all traffic laws..." ;-)

Pulled over once and once only, for an expired inspection sticker.

I saw the cop coming from pretty far away and was doing under the speed limit by the time she got near enough to stop me. I had pulled down a side road to get off the main highway.

Funny thing was, I had just gotten the car back from the dealer, and one of the things I asked them to do was inspection. I was less than a mile from the dealer when she stopped me. So I explained that to the officer, who said, "Well, go there now and get the sticker and we'll forget all about it."

Best part was when she first approached the car, she looked down and said, "Geez, this thing is REALLY low to the ground." OF course, she was driving a giant SUV cop car.

She was very nice, cool about it, and like I said, let me go without a warning.

Only time I've been stopped because I NEVER SPEED in my car. :D

Stupid cops in the town where I work made such a big deal out my 911 not having a front plate too! Got so bad that the Lieutenant ordered me to put a front plate on the car. Totally BS...............problem is, I work with them!

Thought I would make some of you feel better knowing that the cops even hassle other cops about front plates! Personally, I don't write that ticket unless I've personally warned the driver at least twice or their attitude needs realingment!

Another time a cop stopped in restaurant lot where I was parked with P 4/5. When I walked over to the car he got out and asked if he could could see it. I opened the back and showed him the engine. He walked around the car and I admitted that I didn't have a front plate.

"You'd have to be an ass hole to write this car up for that." He said.

"Have a nice evening" He added.

What I have wondered is how much help is a front place for the LEOs?
If car is stopped the he/she can walk around to back.
If driving not likely to see it well, and if you want to stop the car you will pursue anyway, and be behind it.

In states that don't have a front plate are the Police constantly complaining that geez, if that car had just had a front plate I would have nailed him, but instead he got away?

I don't mind abiding by the Law. What drives me nuts are rules that don't seem essential.

Rob it is actually very simple, a front plate allows LEO's to run the vehicle info without any noticeable suspicion. Alot of drivers who speed and then slow down once they see a police car in front of them think they are safe yet they are unaware of a rear radar/laser or simply that LEO's utilize their rearview mirror alot. Also it is highly probable that most speeders speed 99% of the time and most likely have outstanding bench warrants for failure to appear on outstanding speeding tickets.

Public safety is also a huge factor simply because what if the car was reported stolen or hijacked during an armed robbery for example? One must stop and consider as many factors/scenario's as possible and then make an educated opinion. For me personaly I do not care if I am driving a Veyron in Russia or an F40 in South Wales I will have a front plate if that is the law.

Anywho through the years I have always been treated very good by LEO's but I do realize there are......

I live in Califeloney, I've been yanked over so many times, that when I see red and blues in the mirror, my reaction is "now what?????" annoyed over these bs revenue harassments. Most of which have been a infamous plate issue. 2 involving something about some numbers on some sign. All of them have let me go. What do I attribute it to? I'm nice, respectful and I think something I do in my demeanor, because their tone changes after the first minute. I've been stung for the plate issue a few times, only because, the car, was parked.

One night, CHP lit me up for the... I forget which time.... But, the issue he took was with my front plate. I stuck a Euro plate on. It's a plate right? :D First words out of his mouth, "Have you been drinking?" I say no. Then he says, "so, where's your front plate?" I carry it with me in the rear storage, so I said "It's in the trunk". Then he said, "what plate is that?" I said, "it's a Russian plate." So he goes to the front of the car, looks at it with his flashlight, comes back. Now the subject changes, "Do you have any modifications to this car?" I realize he's gunning for the pop your hood search, so I reply, "negative, this car is factory condition". Here's what he says next, "We're conducting a modified car enforcement program, are you sure this car is not modified" Now I know that was a taunt, expecting me to give up the goods just to prove it was factory condition. Once I gave that up, then we'd be searching the whole car. I replied, "Negative, this car is stock condition". Well, I guess he wasn't too hard pressed to pry into my car, so he leaves with "Well sir, you have a good evening." No ticket for the plate, nothing. And during the whole vehicle stop, I was courteous.

Both Ferrari P 4/5 by Pininfarina and P 4/5 Competizione Modificato are completely street legal.

Their plates are 612 P45 and P 45 C. They are both road registered.

A very fickle issue it is indeed but I can assure all it is not a big issue for me unless Zophie is driving.
